has anyone succesfully had Mazda install a Turbo under warranty? My girlfriends father has an NSX which he had supercharged through Acura and it didn't void the warranty.
Anyone think Mazda would do this?

I was actually suprised the car didn't pull even harder, but then I read the car was running rich and was at stock boost. I'd like to see another comparison done now that it is tuned.

Boost it up to 9psi. The car has cat-less 2 1/2 inch midpipe. I use 96 oktane gasoline and Brazilian gasoline has 25% of alchool on it (this helps A LOT).

My point is, unless you pulled the motor, then dyno'd, the engine's crank HP is unknown.
IF the rx8 really makes 238hp, and dynos at 185, that's a 23% loss. If you showed 245whp on the dyno, that could be 301HP at the crank. then again...nobody really knows the drivetrain loss this car suffers.

"The worst scenario case for a rear drive setup is on the order of 12.5% in 4th gear, not the 20 -25% often published. If 25% was being lost in the drivetrain, the oil would boil in the differential housing in short order and aluminum transmission cases would fatigue and break from the temperatures generated. On a 200 hp engine, something on the order of 37,000 watts would have to be dissipated out of the transmission and differential housings."

Stuck in a love triangle
I don't understand why people always have the camera man in the SLOWER car when they film these videos. The slower car should not have the extra weight in it...the faster car should.

It was mesured by putting the car into neutro after the pull and let it roll until it stops, then you mesure the counter force that the transmition make and add that number to the wheel numbers.
That way you get an aprox. number on the crank. the only diference is that you don't mesure the 5th gear "weight" but it's almoust 1:1 rate. so it's not much diference than the gear box in neutro.

I think it would be cool to see a nitrous 8 vs a turbo 8. That would be a nice camparison. I am curious at how far off using nitrous is than let's say a Greddy turbo kit. Doesn't seem like there would be a big difference, but I guess we'd have to see.
