Fall Season drive: Forks of the Credit, THE HALLOWEEN TOUR

The Halloween Tour

When the leaves start changing color and falling, anyone interested in a fall cruise to the forks of the credit.

EDIT: Due to mass unpopularity with dressing up and/or pumpkin carving. I have trashed that portion. It is now a pure driving trip. As such, I have extended the route to cover Hockley Valley, Forks of the Credit, and the Speyside area. Estimated fuel consumption for the entire trip (including getting home) is approx 3/4 tank of gas (~ $40)

1)When is the best time for the scenic drive (leafs falling and shxt like that...)?
2)We don't wanan get caught street racing...so read this and plan accordingly

STREET RACING - Races, Contests and Stunts - DEFINED IN ONTARIO LAW

Exceptions
4. (1) Despite section 2, “race” and “contest” do not include,
(b) motor vehicle owners engaged in a tour, scenic drive, treasure hunt or other similar motoring event in which the participants drive responsibly and in a manner that indicates an overall intention to comply with the provisions of the Act; or

The weather is sharply getting cold. I expect this event should take place around late October (around Halloween). That is also a time when pumpkins start to go on sale.

We will have a better cruise line this time. The planned route will start from 16th Ave (which becomes Rutherford Rd. in the west side) in Markham and will advance all the way to Mississauga Rd. Then turn right to head north going straight to The Forks of the Credit. I want to avoid the 401 as much as possible because that is a **** road anyways.

This is a great drive. And yeah, like Kafka said, we need to be careful around the forks of the credit when driving. The C7 fall cruise has produced a lot of heat from the cops in that area.

I'm in if we plan far enough in advance.

Sounds like it could be a good possibility! I suck at carvin pumpkins so I will fork over my money for the winner at the beginning

Anyone joining in on the C7 fall cruise?

What about a cruise to Niagara and do some gambling or save that for next year?

I'm interested. But keep in mind, the Forks is very well known for being a heat score nowadays.
During the day it shouldn't be too bad, but there will still be people around the area who might think we're "Street racing". So be aware.

We probably have to contact the local police and tell them about the event and have a very strict code of conducts. Last thing I want is to get my car impounded.

But I do think it can be an enjoying and relaxing event with us enjoying driving the cars, hanging out with car folks, even bringing significant others for a wonderful fall driving trip...

Again, communication is key.

WTF are you WTFing at Thief? We are just trying to minimize the risk and to avoid scenarios that you have expereinced before...

Moreover, as for the rules, Footman I think it can probably can be more specific, like no public stunt reving in front of other motorist.

We can definitely learn how the West coast guys did their cruise.

Anyway, we will see how this goes...

Cool

Cruising in Ontario must be fun - there's always that 50/50 chance you'll get your cars crushed! !! !

The forks is no longer fun anymore especially in the weekends. Too many people. It used to be great years ago. But alas, word has gotten out and it has been crowded during weekends and holidays. Weekdays are still good though.
What people do not know are the surrounding roads on Mono hills (towards Talisman). Lots of twists and turns with elevation changes. I did a few TSD winter rallies in that area before. Forks felt tame after that.

I would like to do this one.
I do the forks of the credit at least twice a month, it's 5 minutes from where I live.

If y'all r coming up this way we should do the Hockley Valley as well. Not as twisty as the Forks but the colours are nice.

And on the colours note if you wait till Halloween it maybe too late. It's not uncommon for us to have snow on Halloween at least in the evening. However there should still be a good amount of leaves on the trees.

There is a significant gain in altitude heading up hwy 10 and a rapid gain after the Forks.

Lots of bars in Georgetown

Okay, I am going to share one of my secret roads in Ontario with you all. It runs from Severn Bridge to Bala. Its called Southwood Rd. It is 33km that makes the forks of the credit seem like a liitle laneway. It has more blind switchbacks than you can imagine, its almost as much fun as Mosport! I have never seen an OPP on it and rarely another car. I go up there twice a year in something fun (RX8 or Mspeed 6). It is truly an amazing drive, you need lots of concentration and you will be tired when you finish! If you were to have an asphalt rally stage, this would be the place to do it!

ah yes, I know of that road. it runs right near the CN Rail tracks (Bala subdivision was named after the city of Bala too)...

I didn't know if people would want to drive that far though to experience the road. But lets let the forum members decide....

What do you guys say? Forks? or Southwood Rd?

I know that road too 84, it's excellent but far.

Now I'm kinda biased but Georgetown has roads...I moved here 'cause I always came here to ride, and I'd gladly lead ya'll on a lap of Halton up the hilly and curvy side roads which are barely patrolled. I usually take 15, 10 and 5 sideroad to Guelph line to have breakfast at the Ice House (a well known biker stop), then double back. From there we can still do the Forks ending at hy. #10, and yes, we got nothing but pubs. Two other possible stops on that route; the Canadian Motorsports Museum or the Mohawk casino.

What ya'll decide?

By the way if I don't respond I'm off tomorrow to see the mouse, but back on the 22nd...
