Engine Recall

Are there any New England owners that needed a new engine after going in for the recall?

My car failed all performance tests and had all the suspect symptoms for a new engine.

The ignition coils are being replace and the car will be retested. Still waiting for the coils to come in.

Anyone else out there??

So far I'm waiting for my recall letter. I know I've been told I can just go in without it but I'd rather wait. A few believe along with myself I maybe inline for a new motor because of some way way shitty gas milage, but if all else I hope I'll get a new CAT. Keep us updated on your engine situation.

I didn't get a recall letter either but I did get the extended warranty on the drive train.

I braught it in cause my car was idling like crap with rpm's dropping to 500 at times and almost stalling.

Well right now it is the waiting game until all the parts come in so I may not know until the end of the week. Apparently if my car gets a new engine it might be the first one in New England since the service guys said he has seen no reports of Engines being replaced in our area.

But I will update the situation.

Your service guy may be making a valid statement that there may not have been any engine replacements in New England under the recall (since recall letter campaign hasn't really kicked off in this region yet), but there most certainly have been failed engine replacements in New England.

Mine passed last week (I never got the recall letter, but my dealer did the test when I brought the car in for the starter/battery/plugs TSB).

I have not recieved my recall letter, although I got the warranty extension. I went to my local dealer the other day to make an appointment for an oil change and asked about the engine recall. They said they are have not started doing them yet, but they have the info.

Is it possible mazda is doing this in stages and hasn't gotten to our area yet?

I haven't had an issue with my engine, so I'm in no hurry, just wondering if they saved our area for last as we most likely have the least amount of blown engines due to climate.

I myself got a phonecall yesterday from my local dealer that left a message saying there is a recall on our car for Emissions and to call up as soon as possilbe to schedule a apointment. I laughed when I heard the message for those who know my dealer woes you know why haha..
So far I've been having hard *** starts, crap milage, and one experince of power loss (to me it was scary to be pushing down on the peddle and slowly seeing your mph go down 1 mph per second). Again keep us updated on your situation man here's hoping they give you a new one or not and definatly ask for all paper work dont want them not giving you one solely because some tech doesnt want to do a motor swap.

Got my car back today.

New Coils, New Cat, New Plugs, and New flash.

Car seems more repsonive and a bit smoother when driving.

See what happens as the week goes with the idling and the such.

Got it back with a full tank(93 octane) and a wash.

Cool. I was worried. I am getting a new motor as well, and I was worried if it would be upp to snuff so to say, because my old motor felt very strong compared to other rx-8's
