2007 New England Spring Run, Adirondacks May 19th and 20th!!
So here it is! Since I have not done this before I am starting early. Also if anyone would like to offer any help in organizing this, I might need it!
Since many of the group will be joining from Southern NH and Massachusetts I think that the best meeting spot for most of us will be Brattleboro VT. This is an easy place to get to and it is the beginning of a great winding VT mountain road.
The Mountain road I am referring to is VT RTE 9 West which will take us to Bennington, VT. Approximately an hour from Brattleboro. If you have never been there before, this is where the Bennington Battle Monument is located. This will be a great spot for photos.
From there we continue West to Hoosick and then North to Hoosick Falls. Joining up with NY Route 67 West all the way to Amsterdam
Cool Blue Dad, I think this would be a great place for you to meet us.
From there we hit NY RTE 30 North around Great Sacandaga Lake. I will do a little research and see if there are any cool places around this lake.
From there we continue north to Speculator, NY. What a great town name!
Continuing on 30 we will pass Indian Lake and Long Lake till we get to Tupper Lake.
I think that this is the place we will stay overnight. I will look into lodging for everyone but need a head count ASAP!
From there we will head East on NY Route 3 all the way to Plattsburgh on Lake Champlain.
From there we go south on NY 22 to Ausable Chasm. This is a great place that I have been to a few times and it opens May 18th! Ausable Chasm Website
I recommend that we stop and let everyone enjoy the chasm. If we get there early in the morning it should only take a couple hours to walk the chasm then we can get back in our cars and continue south along the shores of Lake Champlain.
We will cross the Lake into Vermont at Crown Point Bridge. It's a beautiful bridge with an old Revolutionary Fort on the NY side.
We will continue East on VT ROUTE 17 towards Lincoln Gap and Sugarbush Mountain.
Once there we will then join VT Route 100 South till we get to Hancock where we will take a small detour to Texas Falls. Once we leave there we will then get back on Route 100 to the small town of Rochester, VT.
Once in Rochester we will be taking a road called "Bethel Mtn. Road" over Rochester Mtn. (don't know why they call it Bethel Mtn. Road) to Bethel, VT. We then have a choice to get on 89 South or take 107 to route 14 to the White River Jct./Lebanon NH area.
From there I think we can go our separate ways!
Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions for things to see along the way. Krysy you said you had a house in the Adirondacks... Maybe you have some suggestions?
I hope everyone will find this route very enjoyable and relaxing! This won't be too fast of a run, more of an enjoyment ride.
I will try to work out the details on times from place to place, lunches, dinner, etc.
Kevin (my10ae) maybe you can help with this?
I think that's all for now!

I'm in thats a given.
Talked to Chrism and he seemed interested also. I'll see about him possibly getting some NY and NJ people in here.
Maybe if we get enough a hotel can give us a group discount. Oh and on that note if any of us have Triple A maybe they can help us on a hotel also. Just a thought.

I am in, and totally will help you plan if needed since I am familiar with the Adirondacks/Lake George Regions.
Ausable Chasam, takes about 2 hours to walk, and you can now take a raft down the chasm which is a total blast! Water is super cold, but worth it (you really don't get wet other than your feet, but you take your shoes off.)

I'll have to see if my GF can get that Sunday off. If she can I'll be in +1. If she can't, well I'll see how much BS I'll have to put up with to go w/o her.

This sounds like a really nice run. I wonder if it is open to....other....errr....non rotary cars.
I suppose it is open to interpretation to the comment of "won't be too fast of a run", but I think I should be able to keep up with the auto RX8's...
