Long Island Owners - Mazda Dealer recommendations?
To the guys that live on the island or NYC as well. Which specific mazda dealerships do you go to for your normal maintenance?
I searched with the keywords, smithtown, great neck, wantagh etc but the info is not that great. Can you please comment on which Long Island mazda dealership you take your car to for maintenance work, flashes, warranty items, etc....
Thanks,
Anthony

Anyway, I've been to Great Neck quite alot of times, Mike, Frank, David, Yen are all cool as hell. I've been there like I think 5 times, Yes I'm a very annoying bastard I didnt bought my 8 there, but hey they still fix everything. I just went there today again to fix something and got my 8 back in about 2 hours. Great service !
Dont go Koeppel Mazda ! They have horrible service, so horrible that they dont even know wtf they're doing, just made some **** up to try to get me away. Also I wanna mention that their sales department suck ***** too.

I guess Great Neck Mazda it is. I know Howie for about 7 years but was just curious where everyone took their 8. Great Neck is far away from me but it's worth the hike over there after reading these posts.

Koeppel: cheaters and liars
I took my Mazda for the 7500 miles service to my neighborhood dealer which is Koeppel Mazda (Queens, NY).It was supposed to include rotation of the tires. I was having a problem with my front passenger side tire (deflating every 4 days) I asked them to also check it. I picked up my car and they told me that all the tires were rotated and they couldn't find anything wrong with the deflating tire. Soon after, the same front passenger side tire deflated which made me realize that they lied to me, no tire was rotated.Back at Koeppel they finally took my tires out and found a nail, the tires were rotated. I am angry and frustrated. When I take my car for service to an official Mazda dealership, I expect top service, and I would certainly never imagine that the would cheat like that. Who knows what else they say they do, but they don't. Check breaks? replace oil?

Another thing, I have to take back my *good words* about Great Neck Mazda, they're fuxking jerks. they bullshit you after you go there couple more times. they're giving you **** and want to void my warranty base on my intake, well, fuxk them. My warranty is still here. I was about to go back just to make them do the work. but nah, I guess I dont want anyone who I hate to touch my car. not to mention work on it.
Do NOT go Great Neck Mazda ! Nor Koeppel !!!!

Had my MX-5 in once and they did nothing but give me BS and didn't fix anything.
When I picked up the MX-5 tail lights and fog lights were disconnected after they installed the appearance package. (so much for dealer prep and inspection?)
Now they are diluted with Hundya.
I'm going to give Smithtown a try from now on. I understand that there are a couple of rotary heads in their shop who wrench on their RX-7s in their off hours. Sounds promising.

What was your experience with 112? I live in Riverhead so I would likely take my car there since it's really the only other Mazda dealer around.

Just remember with these sorts of threads, people who have bad experiences will comment 100X more than those with good ones, so just keep the inherent bias in the back of your minds....
I've always gone to Great Neck Mazda and they are fairly good. Occationally they even find small problems that had nothign to do with the reason I brought the car in for, and fix them promptly. Mike, who oversees the service center now, is a friendly guy. They gave me a free ride to work (~3 miles away) twice after dropping my car in the morning, although they could not pick me up in the afternoon.
One complaint is that I wish they would be a little better with both explaining things as well as letting me help them. He seems to be very dismissive if you show him relevant TSB's or anything like that (and I was very polite about it, trust me)...or once I told him the exact error code from my check-engine-light scanner (and I know they need to verify themselves) but he barely acknowledged it.
Other than that, they seem pretty good.

Just had mine in for head and tail light condensation, flash check, tsb check and nys insp. Replaced light assemblies no problem, warranty covered everything. Good guys, no BS, seem to be straight shooters. Good experience for a change. Plan on bringing in MX5 and Maz6 in soon for routine stuff.

I bought my 8 at Great Neck. It was a fine sale and Mike the manager ironed ou any problems I had.
As for regular service, I do it myself, but when I have a warrantee issue I goto Great Neck too. The guys in the service department are friendly in a Queens kinda way so it helps to have a sense of humour with them. They must be busy though, when I ask for appointments I get dates with 2 weeks. However, they do timely work and they get me a rental with Enterprise across the street.
One complaint would be that I wished the service guys would work a bit cleaner. Stuff like coffee spilt on my car, my engine cover being put on the bench upside down (scratching). They don't use seat covers. Anyway before I go in for service I was my car so they know I care about it and I also remove the engine and battery covers and put them in the truck so they don't get scratched when the mechanic takes them off and throws them on the bench.

I took my 8 to Smithtown Mazda last year for the inspection. The service manager was very nice, as were the maintenance guys. They had no problem with me going in the garage and putting my plates on while they were there - the guy even gave me his tools to use (forgot they were union!). The service manager sat down with me to talk shop talk, which was cool (being a girl I usually get brushed by at shops). Also good, they have saturday hours, but you need to make an appointment. The bad, I've been calling all week to make an appt for this years maint and inspection, and just keep getting a machine. I've left a message, tried to call other depts, nothing, so that's not sitting too nice with me right now.
I went to the shop on 112 initially, and didn't like their work. No late/saturday hours, though they will shuttle you nearby or get you a rental if needbe. But I brought the car in for the common rotor squeel that the 8s have, and I was not pleased with how the guy handled it. The shuttle guy even started griping about the service manager (who knows, we all bitch about our jobs though, so I wouldn't count entirely on that).
So it looks like I'm shopping for a new mazda place too...

An update on the dealers... just did a driveby of Smithtown Mazda, looks like they went belly up! That explains why no one answered.
I'm working on the pics.. .never really took any good ones of the 8. I'll try!

so any updates on Great Neck Mazda? I have a TSB or two I'd like to get taken care of and although I would normally would go to Wayne Mazda for the best service.. I can't justify the 3x gas expenditure if Great Neck checks out and is a 15 min away.

Does anyone have opinions on Mazda Huntington? I guess that would be my next closest dealer.
