Question K&N Intake V2

Hello!

I was hoping someone could help me out, sorry if this is a repeat post - I tried searching but didn't get the answer I was looking for.

I've listened to numerous intakes via youtube and K&N sounds the best in my opinion. Does anyone else have a second opinion? I'm not going for increased HP... just a sexier, louder sound .

Also, anyone have know where to get them for a good price or even used?

Any help or info on the intake would be helpful, also - which would I need? Is there only one style?

Sorry, I'm an idiot and new to modding .

a couple of the local guys have it, very agressive sounding intake.
You'll see them pop up For Sale on here from time to time, just keep an eye on the F/S section.

Not sure where to get a new one though...

You get reverbarations and metal rattles under the hood.

Also can get the dash to rattle.

Think about it.

why dont you get an AEM Cold Air Intake, looks sexier and sounds pretty good too. Plus you will be getting colder air which is also good

Razz: that was Version 1.
Version 2 of the intake was better.

I still think the RB intake with Ram Air Duct or the Mazdaspeed / AEM is a better intake. (they bring in colder air instead of sucking air in from the engine bay) Plus they sound sexy.

i have a K&N and i use to have the aem on my old 8.

i personally think the aem is a much quieter intake but it did improve engine bay temps.

the k&n i have now sounds much more aggressive but the thing is engine temps are alot higher..

.....im looking to sell my k&n and get a cold air intake, just because i miss the way the AEM looks.

but the k&n looks preety good also.

Hmmmmm, true!

I read somewhere that it can't be used in really cold climates though?

you can use them anywhere, just don't get the filter soaking wet by driving through HUGE puddles / lakes.

I have the K&N V2, you will notice a power loss in high temps due to the intake temps actually increasing over stock. If you care about performance, make sure to get a ram air of some sort. Whether its the RB duct or this is what I did:

The problem is even with a ram air you will get hot air since its not a closed intake, its still open in the engine compartment

So....

A.) Cool intake, aggressive dying cat noise.
B.) Power loss, sexy aggressive noise that makes me purr.

What's the difference bettween; cold air intake, short ram intake, and complete cold air intake with the K&N?

Can't I just get a cold air intake and it be the same as an AEM?

Don't go cheap on intakes and don't get the mazdaspeed one even if AEM designed it.

The screens break easily if you get the mazdaspeed version.

Best thing to get if you don't want to spend much, get the K&N Drop in filter.
