Aluminum Coolant tank

Does anyone make an aluminum coolant overflow tank or has anyone ventured to change from the ugly oem one. I have found several aftermarket tanks. Im thinking about just getting one or two and trying them out. I have a FI setup and some of the pieces in the engine bay really take away from the overall look like the coolant tank and the winshield washer fluid tank soo im looking for options. Just curious to see what people have done.

Well, I painted mine. A lot of people paint the washer fluid bottle. I also did the coolant tank, but then I had the damn sensor go out, replaced the bottle, and haven't repainted it.
The sensor itself can actually come out of the bottom of the tank, but I don't think you can just buy the sensor itself.

My prototype model almost done. Fully serviceable. With level switch. Still working on the wall thickness reduction and satellite tank (for additional volume and refill purpose). No more cap and pressure can be monitor and control.

Here's a pic of the main tank when I was 1st done (just brought back from the machine shop). When I've finished, I'll make a thread. Progress slow because of my job that let me has limited time to stay at home.

Unless they have just started making a new one, their existing tanks are designed for Detroit iron and do not fit well into our engine bay as well as not having a sensor tapping.

Japs stuffs always expensive. The coolant system claimed to reduce heat by 5 celcius but don't know how true. Anyway, I'm not gonna buy it for sure :D

Well maybe this thread will get someone to thinking of being an inventor and making one. As long as it will fit into the space that is now provided I will purchase one.

^ Agreed as long as its not crazy expensive. While they are at it they should make a rotor shaped windshield washer fluid bottle............ in aluminum or something.

We are in development of one currently. In fact we have 10+ items in the design stages for the Rx8. I do not want to get into much detail at the moment since we are not a paying vendor here yet. We are a vendor on RX7club.com and have been doing product design and development for quite sometime for the old school Rx up through the FD. http://www.re-speed.com

FAIL

TEMPORARY

Out of the same 3 canisters in the background, I am fabricating a 4th one to be the coolant reservoir. I pretty much have it complete, outside, will post pics very very soon. Even though I installed the little aluminum one the same way the stock one (other temp photos) goes, it was not enough space and it would end up spilling out all my reserve!!! Car would overheat after a whole day's worth of use. So far the temporary solution is the best since it's the same stock reservoir, just moved to where the air pump used to be. I also added a pressure release cap with same color (burgundy) so it matches quite well.
