Saw Mazdaspeed RX-8 in person
It was at my dealer in the back garage when I was finalizing my order on my second RX-8, this time I am getting a 6-speed.
Specs...
294 bhp, 209 tq. Roughly the same increase of hp and tq % as the Mazdaspeed Miata. I guess they are targeting a 25% increase of hp for their mazdaspeed models.
It is Supercharged, and has the identical suspension as Cortc, except for the front 4-point strut bar. I only have the 2-point mazdaspeed on mine. It had 19" 5-spoke gunmetal-ish (mazdaspeed miata colored) wheels. The tires were Bridgestone S-03's and the size was 245/35-19. I think the wheel was 8.5", but I am not sure. The only color they will offer it in is titanium and red, the interior choice is the red/black leather, or just black leather. Prices is $35,995 and that is inlcluding the front 3-gage thingy above the CD-player. You can choose to nix that option for the NAV if you wish.
I can't share the pictures i took, but I am willing to answer anyone's questions as to what else it looks like, options, etc. I expect a full-loaded MS 8 to be $40k (my salesman hinted toward $40k). It is sitting at Borgman ford tonight, I wish I knew how to break in and steal it.

Thismust be a local dealership thing like they are doing at another one-- Sunflower Mazda. Im sureother members on here whoare friends w/service techs would have gotten inside information about something as big as this if Mazda were going to be releasing a supercharged MS RX-8 nation wide.
Regardless I bet thisthing will barely make 12 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. Thatslike the equivalent mileage of a Viper.

Oh yeah.. just saw it.....
thats ok.. 294 hp and over 200 torque.. 12mpg here I come.
but I am sure it gets more than 12.. heck.. I was out at the track all day and got 9 mpg.. and I was at full throttle almost all day long.

I can't help but think something's fishy. If this is legit, why can't you show the pictures? And if you didn't see the engine, I wouldn't take the Sales guy's word.
The MS version in Japan isn't supercharged, so this must be their best kept secret if it's true. Also, I really doubt that they would only offer it in those standard colors. The MS version should be a special color, like the JDM MS A-spec version which can be had in stratos blue mica.

Did you see the supercharger for yourself?
A dealer in south FL was trying to sell me a "full" mazda speed RX-8 for $40k about 3 months ago. It was a showcase car for the dealership that had all the MS parts installed, but it wasn't a true MS rx-8, since they is no such thing in the united states.
The only reason I mention this is because the dealerships will tell you virtually anything, and unless you verify it for yourself and know the full story, you might actually start to belive what they're saying.

I'd like to believe this, but why would it be at some random dealer in MI? If you were in Cali, that would be one thing, as MazdaNA HQ is there, but without pics/proof, this is really tough to believe.
maybe they had a aftermarket S/C kit on it, but we won't see the FI 8 here for at least another year.

So the entire automotive journalism world is speculating and guessing what the MS RX-8 might turn out to be but some little dealer in Michigan has it sitting around on their property with a bunch of slimeball sales guys showing it to customers??? Yeah...

highly doubt it ... must be the sales men bullshitting and showing you a kitted rx-8 ....
My dealer told me that the rx-8 does 0-60 in 4 seconds when I bought the second one :p .... they'd do anything to act like they are your friend and get you to buy stuff and return for service ...

I said BS the moment I even read the title, but of course curiosity got me, so I read anyway. Some 18 year old kid from Michigan who really can't even afford an rx8 on his own says there's an s/c mazdaspeed rx8 at dealer. Don't back down young lad. Put your parents money where your mouth is, and prove it. I doubt you saw one. Maybe a dealer mentioned it, or you came up with this theory on your own. Only way it's possible is if someone custom made it from an 04 rx8, but that wouldn't even be a production car, so it doesn't mean anything. I can definitely see it happening in future though, because this car def needs more power to compete with the big boys.

Oh ya, Troy is 18.. forgot about that :P I was about to say, how did you know. Hmm When I read this post, I was thinking why his parents are buying him 2 RX-8s rather than the fact of a supercharged RX-8...
