thew, a question - I want to be able to install an Alpine CHA-S634 changer (using the P.I.E. MAZ/PC-ALP and Alpine KCA-130B, right?), but ALSO have the option of (eventually) putting in satellite radio... is that possible? Is there some way I can switch between the two, using some sort of splitter/multiplug/whatever? Unfortunately my firmware version is 9.53, so I know that a new HU or sending you my HU to do the upgrade to 9.67 will be necessary.
Thanks...
Brad
Thanks...

i just hook up the pie set i got from you. the install was easy. i am using it to run my xm rody via the rca imputs to the factory bose head unit. only thing i dont understand is when you push cd button the xm works fine but after about 30 seconds the head unit goes silent, looks as if its searching for the cd chager?, the head unit reads ex 1 flashes then cuts off. help. thanks

remember we asked you what Firmware you were running?
it will only work with firmware ver 9.55 or higher.
Sounds like you need to ship that HU to me ASAP so i can get it upgraded.

It All Works!
Thanks to a head unit upgrade from version 9.53 to 9.67 from thew (thanks!!), plus the MAZ/PC-ALP adapter from P.I.E. and KCA-130B Alpine adapter, I now have an Alpine CDA-S634 6 disc MP3 changer in the trunk of my RX-8 playing perfectly through the HU and steering wheel controls.
Next comes satellite radio, hopefully. Since this setup takes up the CD changer port in the back of the HU, I will need to get a device that allows me to keep my current Alpine changer setup intact yet hook up satellite receiver too... fortunately P.I.E. also makes the ALP/AI-AUX that will let me do that - guess this splitter replaces the ALP/M-RCA unit others are using that don't have a need for an Alpine CD changer. Because I just have the basic HU with single disc CD, there's plenty of room back there for all these adapters and also (hopefully) enough room to possibly put the new Mazda Sirius satellite module where it belongs, assuming that Sirius turns out to be my choice of sat provider. I have, of course, a radio with no SAT button... does anybody out there know which button would control the satellite radio access? Perhaps the CD button will toggle between single disc, CD changer and SAT radio??

i will know that in about i week .. but i do know that they all want to use the same plug in the HU.. I talked to PIE abount making a spliter for it. but so far if you pic the Sat box from Mazda it will need that port. . so you can use the Pie multy input device but you can use the OEM mazda sat box. it will have to have a rca audio out.

Depends. if you want to use an Alpine device you need a diffent Alpine connecter. As well if you have a Pioneer or Kenwood theres a box for that to. But if you just want a good clean Line in then use the above set up. yes you need the box and the adapter.
To check firmware on the HU Push and hold the text button while holding it also hold the 1 preset. This will tell you your Firmware. if you do it wrong you will clear your memory for preset 1 and the screen will say clear. Just make sure you hold the text button in and then push the preset 1.

Ipod and SAT question
Hi. I have a 2005 with the SAT button. I want to hook up an ipod and also put in the sattelite reciever. Can I do both? Will it take up the satellite spot on the back of the head unit. Thanks.

yes the MAzda XM sat box will use the same port as the PIE or the ICE link . You can get a device from PIE that will allow more than one RCA input but then you will not need the Mazda Sat box instead you will buy the aftermarket version and plug it into one of the inputs on your PIE. This will give you your Sat audio but not the same controll as the OEM version. IE you can mute and rase and lower volume. but to chage stations you will need to touch the Sat box or use its remote. The Mazda Version will work with the controlls in the car.
