Jumped out of my car snapped a couple and off i went!
Pretty cool.
Too bad it was auto.

Good pick up Mogley...it was obviously some sort of promo sponsored by Chrisco.
With no sign of an external police frequency aerial, and the rego number theres a slim chance it could be set up for crime prevention...comment Drew....???????

I will not off I went. I will go and ask the officer driving if he knows about how to take care of the rotary haha.
Drew will not go with his car, otherwise they will say ... "swap" hehe.

Looks like one of the Cop promo cars they use to get the "Lebo's" on side down at Bankstown on a SAT night.
Cops also have a Lotus Elise for the same purposes.
RX-8 would turn heads at the bankstown 7/11 servo
Looks like its parked around the Strathfield area judging by the roads & houses....???

Its based in Flemington.
The rx8s are arguably the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE car for a cop to sit in due to the bucket seats. Ive had to drive my car several time whilst wearing my apointments belt and let me tell you...I was GLAD to get out of the car!
I'm sure Trev would know all about how bucket seats and gun belts dont mix!
Most of the Commodores we have also have semi buket seats and we just cant wait to get out out of them!

Spot on Drew....accoutrement belts are a police cars seat curse - and theres not much you can do when you're responding code 1 or 2.
Theres no way in the world I'd wear it in the 8 - the scuff mark I see on the inside drivers door make me wince enough every time I see it, let alone contributing to anything else...!

The Chrisco sticker looks like an ad or sponsor, so is that even real police car? could be just someone putting those stickers on his/her car? I know you probably can't have the police sticker in the first place, but who knows his/her dad a cop!

I hate sports cars tarted up as cop cars.
It's just wrong and I think the PR message is the kind of lame-assed crap idea a public servant would come up with trying to be 'hip with the kids'.
If I see it, I'm going to throw eggs at it.
Aside from that, I really like it, lol...

With our Police Commodores and Falcons capable of speeds of 200 km/h +, compliance with our new pursuit policy, public liability issues and of course the danger of travelling of these speeds on public roads theres no need for high profile sports cars.
They don't offer much storage space and the practicalities of transporting people around is a nightmare....

I'm with you on that Dave. I think it sends the wrong message as well.

Marketers may beg to differ but IMHO policing does not lend itself to touchy feely PR campaigns. I believe these kind of promotional stunts tend to diminish respect for the constabulary rather than promote it.
The average person will see it as a waste of money and a mere perk for the drivers of the vehicle. Even other police (the clear inference from Drew's remark).
