[PICS] Rx8 cop car in Sydney

Quite agree Trev. Policing is a serious government responsibility, not an excuse to waste taxpayer's money on a promotional ****.
Marketers may beg to differ but IMHO policing does not lend itself to touchy feely PR campaigns. I believe these kind of promotional stunts tend to diminish respect for the constabulary rather than promote it.
The average person will see it as a waste of money and a mere perk for the drivers of the vehicle. Even other police (the clear inference from Drew's remark).

Take away the cane and you lose the one thing that makes you the big swinging d*ck in the classroom. A teacher with a little black marker to put a little black X on your precious little merit book is puncy. The cops need a little more Judge Dredd in 'em. A little more Die Hard, a little more Chuck Norris.
If i saw a big, black menacing beast with smoke coming out of the grills driven by men in dark sunnies and just out of prison demeanors step out of their vehicle tapping the side of my car with their spiked baton i would think twice before I ask them if they need directions to Krispy Kreme.
I'm sure its a little more complicated than that but the job needs to be a little more glamorous. You put your life on the line to do a community service, you deserve better than crappy government funding will afford. A well-paid, respected, not to be messed with police force would be much more effective than they currently are. The RX-8 is a step in the right ballpark I think.
Well, maybe not the RX-8 but something a little more than a retired Hilux with an aftermarket paddywagon conversion.
