agreed that CB radios will provide good communications between cars on normal cruises, have been using it for many years, but it is next to useless on proper twistie runs IMO, and i wouldnt want anyone holding one while shifting gears and steering the car at the same time.
no worries Kunal, that will give me a better excuse to get a new set of wheels ;-)

VOX is available for handheld radios... Mine supports it... Hymee uses a throat microphone and an ear plug, but mine just has the microphone a little down the cable.. The radio itself sits in the coffee warmer unit...

I think for future cruises it'd be best if we can have atleast a couple of CB's.
Also, it'd be great if we could all be slightly more courteous to those cars who get left behind due to traffic lights or slow cars in general. That way we wont have people getting lost like what happened to kiet!

Agreed that CB's would have made this exercise safer for all. I had hoped by slowing gradually I had allowed enough time and notice for those behind. Bygones - I won't attempt it again in company.
Can I suggest that by being so desperate to keep the group together people were driving too close at times. On a twistie run it only makes sense to space things out a touch. I mean, what would have happened if Waldo or I had to brake hard due to some kid on the road or something? Concertina effect.
Picking up on Kunal's comment, Waldo did regularly pull over to allow people to catch up but it gets difficult in heavy Sunday traffic when there's a lot of lights, etc.
I suggest there's no substitute for knowing the route yourself so you can find your own way if you get separated. If the route is unclear before the run, ask one of the organisers for more detail.
Perhaps we need to get over the whole convoy mentality when numbers are large and traffic is heavy, just enjoy the drive and have a laugh when we get there. It shouldn't be stressful after all.

Hi All,
IMO I thought the cruise on Sunday was one of the best I've been on. I've been on a couple of cruises with other car clubs and this one beat'em hands down.
To keep everyone together is almost impossible in Sunday Wollongong traffic, its hard enough at the best of times.
So to the organisers and everyone that came, congrats and thankyou for a wonderful day. It was nice meeting most of you. Hope we can do another one soon.
Cheers
Chris

Just wanted to say i had a great time, 2 things that would have made things better.
1. the use of CB's
2. less traffic (can't do much about this one really)
Oh btw, EZZY the blue 8 behind you was me, as soon as i saw the heavy braking and heard the beeping i backed off a bit. Despite that little incident i still had a great time going through the National park, Tom got some great shots there
looking forward to going on the next one!
