Nice vid Taka

Do you think the 4.777 diff from the series 2 would be of benefit?

Cheers,
Danny

Nice vid Taka.

From the look of the track it seems the hi-po Shelby was akin to using a sledge hammer to crack a nut. Not many opportunities to get on it.

What was fastest time and which car?

May be but I would have to change gear at the mini straight that I got the car up to 9500.

I use a program call racechrono (www.racechrono.com). I use a Nokia smart phone (in this case E71, bluetooth GPS and bluetooth OBD scanner.

Start from the bottom post. It is the oldest.

Thanks Dave. The day was not officially timed. A few people uses Performance Box and one E28 BMW M5 did a 1"03.

WAY and I could not get under 1"03 in our 135i in May.

Hello Taka,

I have been looking at getting myself a bluetooth OBD2 reader, where did you get yours from? I can only find the original OBDKey supplier in UK, which costs about ~aud$160 shipped.

Can I just get one of those cheaper ebay items, as long as they are OBD2 compliant and can read CAN protocal?

Cheers,

Ket

I got it from obdkey in UK. Yeah.

Yes but they may not work as well as the OBD key. They have good software to come with it.

AUD$160 shipped is very cheap. Thanks to strong $AUD. I think mine was about $180 or $200..

Good excuse to try harder in November.

Bit more warmth in the tyres should see you crack it...

I also can get to the line closer without triggering it. It only triggers when OBD speed > 0. More accurate time.

Good to see you back mate!

I was actually going to be heading up there to with my new black nemesis Evans (the black mini JCW in your video) until mine started eating its clutch so am now awaiting my new OS Giken clutch to arrive. Damn it was hard finding a good aftermarket one for the JCW

I wonder how long for the delivery though, as I didn't go for the more expensive courier service.

The Royal Mail is very good. Prob 5 working days.

Top Gear has shown mailing from south UK to north faster than driving ... how far was that?

Yep, I bought it about 18 months ago, before I got my 8, Oh it only took about a week.
Sinclair is the guy who I dealt with, very helpful.

I have the software installed on my Dell Laptop, on my desktop tower with a BT PCI Card (so if my car is in the carport I can link to that), and also on my PDA which I use when out and about to get data while I drive, there is a thread over in the US tech Forum (search OBD Key I think you will get the thread), hang on, I have it bookmarked...this one..

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...96#post3161996

I have never had an issue with the apps, Bluetooth is excellent.

With PC use you have a lot more 'values' to see and read and log, can also transfer data to Microsoft Excel, (have not done this yet).

I like the one that tells you how far you have traveled (KMS) since the last ECU reset and how many engine warm ups you have done since reset.

If you want to reset ECU, the easiest in Series II and I am sure it applies with Series I RX-8's is to pull the interior 15 AMP Blue Fuse (left foot well, the one on the bottom) and I leave it off for 5 minutes or so, don't know if you have to do that though...then put fuse back.

I like to make sure I have my interior lights off, so I put my finger on door light switch and hold till they turn off, then put fuse back in, it just stops the odd "spark" as you don't have much power drain through circuit.

I have Vista as my Operating Software, OBD+Key earlier this year released an updated software version for all owners, you can download off their site for free, just in case the CD-ROM you get is not the latest version, sorry don't have the version Number handy...

Great product...enjoy!

Haha... what haven't you got before the car? Petrol may be. Thanks Ash, good post, the main reason I want to get it is to be able to monitor the coolant temp, comparing to the price of having physical gauges and that $160 something for the obdkey, I rather go the later, I'm not that machanical inclined, so the obdkey is a no brainer to me. Wait till I get the key hopefully this week or early next week, and see how I go, be prepared as I might have a few noob questions :D

I got this OBDKey from Sinclair as well. I requested for Wideband O2 reading, and Sinclair (or team) make a new exe + dll for me to log the O2 S1 lambda value. But the executable has a few bugs till date still no fix...

It does work with internal GPS. That is the first request I made to Antti @ Racechrono.

It will work, but tends to be less accurate coz it is 1Hz and weak. Internal only takes 4 satellites but external ones are 5 Hz and takes up to 10 satellites.
