What's all this business about wives cooking the meat?
We are a pack of "aussie" men. We can't have a woman control the grill. It goes against the long standing etiquette and tradition of the great aussie barbie.
I'm with Andrew at the grill. Happy to cook, unless my kids are throttling other kids or vice versa.
To satisfy all you "new age sensitive guys" out there who prefer the cafe, we can also stop off at a cafe for a "late" on the way home.
I must admit, even though I prefer the barbie, I have been known to frequent the occasional cafe myself.
Cheers
Greg

This will get them all fired up.
You see Ezzy,
We Victorians can organise ourselves very quickly, with a minimum of fuss.
Unlike you northerners who have to make arrangements well in advance and sign a legally binding contract so that there are no disputes on the day, we can work it out amongst ourselves with none of this: and plenty of this:
Now I'll just sit back and wait for you guys to
(obviously had too much time on my hands this afternoon)

BBQ........can I come, hate to miss out on a good BBQ
Should organise one for the adelaide contingent, all I need to do is invite myself and ummm, errr, ahhh, myself, and ummmm, gee there's only one of us here.
Oh well, it'll be a lonely BBQ, but then again, all the coppers Pale Ale will be all mine and at the end of it I wouldn't care less, LOL!

After 20+ years and 3 kids, it takes more than that to get lucky with the wife.
When do you want to have that beer?

OK Guys!!!!! I went home early from work cuz i was feeling sore and sick but as many of you know im a major stressor , as i was sitting in my beanbag watching episode of Elimidate on foxtel (well nothing else was on?!), I decided to write a few things in my diary organising whoz bringing what to this BBQ!
So here is the list and I leave it up2 you guys to decide what to bring. I know you probably thinking why the hell does she want a list... why? Because it isnt fair for few people to burden more cost then others, and "sharing is caring" boyz
Some people have made few suggestions in the thread, ive just had a skim read over it, so correct me if im wrong and/or add ur name to the list
1) Meats such as: chicken, sausages, beef, any sauces etc x 6 people
Volunteers:
2) Softdrinks AND cups x 2 or 3 people (p.s. ice may be needed also)
Volunteers: Zen & MissK
3) Salads & plastic cutlery, plates & napkins x 2 people
Volunteers: Auzoom
4) Breads (rolls and/or sliced) x 1 person
Volunteers:
5) Dessert x 2 people
Volunteers:
From the above it totals to about 13 - 14 people/cars
I believe so far there are 15 cars. If anyone is left out from bringing something then bring something that I couldnt think of
Other issue that has been brought up is "Beer." I dont know if i have to mention this.. but keeping in mind there were be A LOT of booze buses around, so anything of that sort will be BYO.
I also havent mentioned tea/coffee, so if anyone wants that they can bring it, or the dessert people can designate to bring.
Some people have mentioned they prefer cafe food, not sure where Taka has planned the bbq as all day hes been looking and telling me here or there So there may be cafes nearby, but I can vouch for the guys, last time we had BBQ it was good fun, great atmosphere and the WIVES (yes i said it before and I will keep saying it!!) THE WIVES did a great BBQ.
It would definately be good for everyone to contribute
Being the resident female I'm allowed to be a major "bb", so another issue is.................. living in melbourne we dont know if it will rain So on Wed Taka will give us update on the weather and let us know whether to go ahead and make our purchases (shops are open Thurs and Fri til 9pm ). So this gives time incase it rains for alternative arrangements to be made.
Ooookk have I addresses 'most' things......

Thanks for making a start Kalli that is wonderful..... Kalli is now the secretery of the meet
I am doing sausages!
Correct! There may be more. Aim for about 25-30 people if we all turn up. Then again think that not all of them eat your thing. E.g. I only get sausage say one each. I will get variety - so say 4 packs of 5-7 will be plenty.
Sure. I am sure Brewer will have something great
Decided to go to Mornington (end of the Main road) there will be 4 spots for BBQ and a few huge carparks. Plenty of cafe at the main street (for plan B )
Well Wednesday night will have enough data info from the BOM regarding forecast. Yes southern airstream will be deadly and it tends to happen in summer. So fingers crossed
Please sing out people if you have more ideas.
