Winton emailed me yesterday afternoon to advise the timing system will not be working. They offered manual timing but by the time I got back to them in the evening was advised it was to late.
Yes Craig there will be groupings. Keep an eye on the 1st post, will have them up in the next hour. PLEASE PM ME if you wish to discuss your grouping. Also keep in mind its a fine balancing act between expected times, ability and the persons track etiquette (if its known).
Cheers

Was timing included in the original price? ( I assumed so given the price ).
Shouldn't Winton give us money back if it was included?
Thanks for organising someone else tho. It would be a bit of a waste of a day if there was no timing.

Thanks to the organiser, it was a very good day and free from any troubles, albeit a bit too hot for me
Managed to shave 0.3 secs of my best time from nats
full result here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...2008.WIN.S14.Y
to Rod, he can run a stock rx-8 with stock tyres (not semi slick) at 1:49 I need a brain transplant from him

thank you very much to all the organizers and marshals for this great event, to those that missed out.. big too bad !
PS. Andrew you look cooked when i visited u at pit start, remember to bring a hat next time !
Spirit R ! Enkei RPF1... yum...
Group A lining up ~~ the lotus is a silent killer..you can only hear wind.. like seriously.. it glides pass you like wind ... we all know it is a fast car..but u really have to follow one of these to appreciate and get a true perspective how fast these things are around corners.. brake so deep.. turn in very sharp... and next thing is you realize its like few car lengths away.. btw this particular Lotus's straight line speed is like a stock 8.. at the last Honda track day i came out of the straight before S turn and realize he was closing in due to much faster exit speed (although Lotus driver said i didnt block him the turn before straight to the S bend...) i thought it will eat me easily after i move out of racing line.. but it couldnt .. it was side by side with me.. so i have to let go throttle and pull back into racing line to follow.. and i witness it "slicing" the S bend like a kart.... very late braking... very aggressive and sharp turn in... Alonso style ! I was a bit stun.. and forgot my own braking pt.. bcoz u kind of naturally follow the car in front.. but thank god logic woke me up ... after S bend.. he already gain 5-6 car lengths while i was going up hill he was already about to turn in ... this Lotus does low 1:38 at Winton on average
Andrew's lovely .. btw andrew luv those WED sports.. they have a bit of dish on it.. i think if u get same offset with CE28N.. u wont probably wont have dish.. nice.. but if is gun metal or bronze.. even sexier !
my 8.. notice the little cute fan blowing the radiator ? everyone's got a word about it -..-" is a good thing to prevent heat soak ok ! just bcoz i luv my car
Notice far right ! Kall is trying to Ninja away ! get her ~ !!!

Thanks for everyone coming. I have a "fun" day myself.
Interesting drama in the pit lane and some car (mine) trying to find a slope at the pit lane to unload the car.
I was **** yesterday.
The tyre give up I think at the end. Yoko was a fun tyre but I think it is not quite compatible with Winton. At Phillip Island and the long hand bend, the Yoko felt great. In fact the Yoko is strong around the sweaper, but the sharp turn of the rest of the circuit it is no good, especially the cleavage. However, it is a forgiving tyre. Plenty of drift before losing grip, and it is so consistent between laps. I think if I go for something like the 6 hour race where I need to have consistent lap times, I will go for Yokohama. Mistake will happen if I push the Bridgestone. Although I cannot better than my previous best lap with Bridgestone, it is a good experience (and $2000 worth too).... I think it is worth it since I am the only one in this forum who knows inside out of these 2 tyres in the RX-8 haha....
So did my driver seat. The plastic clips on the back of the seat broke all the way on the left hand side... so I was holding my steering wheel so as not to fall back to the rear seats... I wish it happen later since I just finally felt comfortable with the set up and pushing for it. But standing up driving ain't my strong point, so I was 2 sec slower in result.
Well better luck next time, I guess. The engine was strong, but exhaust are much louder (although it sounds great)... must go and check it out.
I am going for Dunlop next time (I talked to my neighbour, he just brought a Carrera cup car to go to GP this year, he told me to buy a set from Stuckey... )
I am going back to the right direction. Thanks Rod. You know both Rod and Henry are in Dunlop. I think my neighbour was right about Dunlop and Winton.

Yep was a fun day. A little too hot but still fun!
Andrew I hope you are not feeling too bad today... By the end of the day he was very much radioactive red
It was good to see some of the Sydney guys again! I must though say a big thanks to Len for hopping in with Danielle and giving here some track tuition. Thanks mate!
When I get the chance in the next couple days I will post up a video of Andrew converting to the dark side having relegated his 8 to the pits to take to the track in one of those Honda thingies

Hey guys. Thanks for helping make it a great day.
Yes unfortunately the thremostat on my car gave up the gong (now out of warranty) so I only got a chance for 2 odd sessions. That left me to try and run pit lane and face the beast that is the sun. I am so burnt its ridiculous.
That aside I had the pleasure of driving a car that puts out 170kw to the FRONT wheels and was pleasantly suprised ... no amazed at the power than can be put down while still steering.
We found Rods transponder. It had been run over (tyre marks on it) and was wedged into a concrete wall.
Also, I Picked up a bunch of stuff at the end of the day:
- Toolbox with various tools in it.
- Helmet
- Spare wheel/tyre
- Tracksuit top
- Umberella...ella...ella
If your missing these items, please PM me.
Cheers

I am onto the website with pretty racing seats.....
#97
Just an excuse to buy a new "pretty" racing seat!!!
#98
Yeah I love my wife. She told me that it worths the extra $300 to get the Carbon fibre back seat and aluminum frame rather than the plastic one with stell frame of the same shape. Although I wanna save that $300
#99
Sounds good but becareful of the old "trump card" when someone is shopping for something they want and reminds you of the extra $300 you spent on your "toy"!
Only kidding!
#100
You see to me thats my wife telling me "Yes you need to spend the extra $300 on the reinforcing you fat bastard cause if you dont we are just going to have to buy a new one again" Joking
