Yep, I've had mine a few weeks back...cost around $240.

They said I was their second 10,000K service, and they had someone booked in for their 20,000K the week after.

Last week. $240, too. Oil, filter & tyres rotated. Aked about burning rubber smell and they inspected exhaust system heat shields - no probs. There's a slight rattle coming from somewhere behind my right ear, but we couldn't identify it -- only happens on certains types of road surfaces

Regarding the slight rattle coming from somewhere behind your right ear :

Try a little lube on the door striker plates.

Timbo,

Reference the burning rubber smell - are you sure it's not just the tires after a bit of hard driving? I noticed the smell a few weeks ago, and to me the source of the smell was the tires themselves. The reason I say that is because I stood at the front of the car and the smell was just as strong as the rear. The closer I put my nose to the front tires, the stronger the smell got.

Nup! :p

Thanks Kev -- it's one of those annoying ones, so any tips from those who have experienced really helps

Don't think so -- it seems to be definitely from the rear, in my case. That whole exhaust area is bloody hot after a long run!

Could the burning smell be a bit of the old clutch material getting too hot?

I reversed up a shocker of a ramp yesterday, while negotiating obstacles - plus a bit of forwards/backwards scissoring.

Almost like rubber!

Could be, except I really notice it after my run back from Sydney to Canberra, where I use the clutch maybe twice after leaving Liverpool . Perhaps if the clutch was slipping, but there's no evidence that I can detect of that (as opposed to what you would have had to do on the ramp :D)

Am interested if anyone else has it after a long run:?

My photo is becoming a distraction (but BVD may have something there)!! Clearly we should get back to something constructive, such as the relative merits of RX-8 colours or, more importantly, my burning rubber smell:D

Oh, I clearly was thinking down the wrong track, I though the smell was coming from the car . I have a bunch of other possibilities I could list :D :D :D

I couldn't resist that

Have I mentioned red is the best colour in this post yet?

I'm toying with this as an idea....
