It seems the efficency increases as the engine ages.

I have just clocked up 40 000k and I now regularly get 500km per tank. I dont use the car as much now days so partake in spirited driving when I get the chance.

Guys, has anyone given the new Shell long range unleaded a go? I've used a couple of tanks of LR Unleaded 95 now, and there are definite improvements in efficiency to be had. Around town, getting 11l/100km, down from around 13l/100km. (Fuel light comes on at just under 500km instead of 415km).

I also used a tank driving from Melb to the Great Ocean Road and back, so prob 400km of highway, and 200km of flogging the car in the hills. I still got an easy 10l/100km, so prob could have done better with steady highway driving.

I'd be interested if you guys get similar results

back on topic. i have almost 10,000km on the clock after 18 months of use and I get approx 300km per tank all in short trips in sydney traffic in hilly north shore. Mostly fill up with 95pulp from shell or bp.

You can't be too far from MikeyR and me Azza. Which suburb are you in (PM me if that makes you feel better about revealing your general location)?

We should drag you away from parenting duties for a meet 'n greet somewhere. We can talk fuel economy.

Bleah I don't care where people know what general area I live in. I'm in Castlecrag. The suburb Walter burley Griffin designed and lived in.

By all means, lets talk fuel economy! The little one loves driving, only she cries when I take her out of the car or we are stopped at traffic lights. mmm or maybe it's me cryin

Wow, such fantastic fuel consumption, you guys get it too good.

Cosmo........ 3-rotors - two turbo's - auto

City cycle - 430km (max) with 80 litres consumed

Doesn't even get reved hard either, with around 580nm of torque on top. It bearly needs more than 3000rpm to punch through traffic...........

Yer, I usually get about 400km out of a tank using standard Optimax. I filled up with Mobil's equivalent for the first time last week, so we'll see how we fare with another brand of petrol.

Has anyone tried out Optimax Extreme? Does it pay to use it at all in terms of economy?
