The 2007 Australian RX-8 Nationals (the aftermath)
The 2007 Nationals is a great success!
I have a lot of people to thank. Firstly Mazda Australia for their efforts and their National Polo shirts (who chose the colour btw?).
Mazda Japan Takashi san also came down and I thank him for coming.
Also thanks the president Nakamura san and manager Takashi san from KnightSports to come and visit us once again. Your presence is most welcome and we feel so privileged.
Thanks Uncle Pete from DriverDyanmics to make the trip up. You presence and teaching is extremely valuable.
To Simon from Promaz and the team, your new car looks very blue mate. thanks for all the supports and generous gifts.
Jason from REVS came all the way from SA with his car and what a find car that is. Thanks for everything you have contributed and we love to see you again.
Thanks for Shane from Traction tyre to come and enjoy the day. You have helped us being safe tremendously. Tyres are important I know.
Thanks the staff from Winton Raceway and Benalla Leisure Park for their warm welcome and hostage. Their foods are excellent aren't they. The rooms are also top notch~!
Also gifts from rotary13b.com from the US, thanks for your generousity.
We should thank all the organisers of these event. The OzRenesis team has put a considerable effort into it and god does it pay off! The accom is excellent and the food is superb. We were truely impressed. Andrew, thanks for your effort. Kalli and Cromax and helped out throughout the event preparation and during the day. Craig, thanks for everything you have contributed and keeping the books straight. Also find sometimes to retune your car and top the chart for the team .
Last, but not least, thank for ALL the people coming. Without you, I would have just played soccer with the KnightSports guy and we will have not an event.
Rod and Glenn, I apologized that I could not give all I had during the event. I promised my little girl to drive safely and I have to true to my words. There is always another time.
Thanks very much.

Just adding my thanks to all involved with organising, and especially Andrew, who looked like death warmed up a few times but kept on going. Good onya mate! Now, get some rest.
I'm just back -- Len and I detoured to Milawa to get some new odourisers for the cars
Great to see another safe Nats, with no damaged cars (well, apart from the odd body kit part that was too low ) and all cars driven home. Damaged egos? Well, there's always a few of those.
As for the Polos -- well, we had fun, but a turbo-FWD circuit Winton ain't More understeer than I've felt for a while I enjoyed watching the way the 8's would handle those curves so nicely with a tear in my eye... (sniff!). But don't try to overtake us on the straights
Finally, I think both the Pogs revealed the same mechanical fault -- loosening bolts on the turbo inlet pipe -- so we'll both be off to have that fixed. A special thanks from both Len and I to Michael Norsvan, of Reliance Automotive who was helping represent Mazda Australia, for his mechanical dexterity in getting us both tightened up (in this case, happiness is tight nuts )
Next year? Surely Morgan Park near Warwick in Qld would represent a great venue, along the same lines as Wakefield and Winton? Anyone up north interested in looking at the feasibility?

Well I am back. I have a long list of thanks so I think I am going to just get into it.
So thanks go to:
Everyone for coming. Especially big thanks to the QLD and SA contingent for their long hauls.
As with the last few years, a big thanks to Mazda Australia for their assistance. Especially for sending Takeshi san, their senior RX-8 engineer. Takeshi san I take my hat off to you for helping settle a few arguments . Also Jon Waterhouse and Michael Norsvan from Reliance Rotary who put on a great show of the inner workings and history of the rotary engine, as well as how a rotary can go with their 250rwkw FD RX-7.
The guys from ProMaz for their assistance, support, sponsorship and prizes. Although not a ProMaz employee RXVIII, a big for the amount of time he spent giving people laps with his 227rwkw ProMaz turbo kit car.
The REVS gang for their assistance and support and also Nakamura san and Takashi san from Knightsport
The Guys and Girls at Benalla Leisure Park. The accomodation, food, service and entertainment was fantastic.
Everyone at Winton Raceway. Heather for her assistance when the budget got tight, Adam for his fantastic job with timing and Cass with the fantastic lunch.
Uncle Pete from Driver Dynamics who was tireless in helping people get the most from their car. I hope I didnt make your job to hard with the advice I gave out.
To Shane from Traction Tyres who helped sort everyones tyre pressures all day as well as answered all the technical questions people could throw at him.
And last but not least, Andy from rotary13b1.com for providing the fantastic gift packs raffled off.
Well thats it for the moment. I have another post to make but I will leave that for later.
Thanks again to everyone for putting up with my whinging and moaning

Made it back just in time to watch the end of the Bathurst 1000. After an awesome day at Winton yesterday watching someone else race is a bit of let down.
I had a fantastic time and it was good to catch up with some old friends and to meet and make some new ones. Can't wait until the next one - QLD sounds good to me.
A big thank you to the organisers, you did a fantastic job of putting it together. The hard work paid off as the weekend went off like a well oiled machine.
I have to say thanks to Rod for for giving me a driving lesson and scaring me near to death in a hot lap with my car.
From a particpants perspective, a big thanks to all of the sponsors for their support of the event.
Cheers.... Otto

Just kidding mate, it was all good fun! (Even if my car is completely stock ... and the first time I'd taken it out on the track!)
PS. Kall's sitting beside me and reckons my head won't fit in my helmet next time!

I would just like to echo the many thanks already expressed above to all involved in organising, supporting etc. Also a big thank you to everyone who came along (especially those who travelled many many hundreds of kilometres) as it is this involvement and participation that makes it worthwhile and enjoyable. Additionally it is good to be able to put faces to Avatar’s and swap stories.
I would also like to apologies to everyone for not saying goodbye in my hurried exodus to get at Nagambie for a prearranged dinner appointment. We were with you guys & gals in spirit.
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did!
Catch you all anon

Fastest Auto at Nats 3 years running
Thanks to Michael for the inspiring hot laps in the RX7 and Uncle Pete for the great advice on braking and taking the race line.
Their great work allowed me to improve my time from 1:57.3500 to 1:44.2180 in the last session to enable me to retain my title as the Fast Auto at the Nats
Cheers

My thanks to all the organisers, OzRenesis, and all the sponsors, who have made it really worth my time coming down to the nats. We had a great sunny day, great fun day on track, great accommodation, great food, and the free 2nd oil cooler (thanks to Simon of ProMaz).... how can you ask for more!!!

I'd just like to echo my thanks to the organisers at OzRenesis for a fantastic event and a thanks to our generous sponsors. A special thanks to Knight Sports and Craig for a ride in their FI cars. The only thing I've had on my mind the last 12 hours is booooooooost!!!!.

I am still excited about the events. We should keep that running whereever it will be next year. I just invest on a big *** 4WD to tow the car up if it is too far (no worries).
Hymee we did miss you there, a lot in fact....

What a great way to spend a weekend. Both Danielle and myself are ready to do it all again, and even though it was the weekend of our wedding anniversary she did not complain once but was instead just all smiles. She had a blast!
Thanks to the organisers again on behalf of the 3 of us ex rx8 owners who were once again allowed to participate and enjoy the company of a truly great bunch of friends!
Also must thank all RX8 owners who turned up. All arrived with a great attitude and smiles which held through the entire weekend. Without this the weekend would not have been so good!
Andrew, Stephen, Kalli, Craig and all involved... Well done!

Severe attack of Mondayitis and still too whacked to say much (yes, it does happen, lol). However, I'm glad I resisted temptation as to both timing and not getting a ride in the turbo cars. My bank balance is grateful on both scores, hahaha.
Qld FTW next year guys. Someone book a track and the rest will follow (with a bit of help)...
