Even 100 degree coolant may not burn plastic... why coolant can do that sort of damage?

Whoa! Just saw it ... you using sulfuric acid to top up your coolant or something? :p

Could it be it split due to excessive heat and the hot brake fluid leaked out? It looks as if it could've come from the inside ...

Brake fluid can get a lot hotter than coolant ... my money would be on that!

I say coolant because that is the only fluid that could possibly have come into contact with the valve. Some time back at Wakefield I overfilled the coolant and when hot, it sparayed under the bonnet area. Quite a few other componets in the vacinity are showing signs of corrosive attack from what I guess is the same source. There is no sign of brake fluid anywhere and the valve has definitely been attacked from the outside surface (not the inside) and from above. Anyway, once I have put the new valve in (they sent me the wrong one!) I will do some tests including exposing the valve to coolant for an extended period and let you guys know.
(p.s - the engine was also running rough as a result of the vacuum leak and the engine light came on. I have done a temporay fix and all is now ok. Only wish I had found the problem at the track!)

As cronullarx8 said in his OP, it is a vacuum line to the brake booster, not a fluid line to the brake slave cylinders. The problem he experienced was a lack of brake boost (ie, power-assist) not a brake failure.

I've been planning on doing a little report for the benefit of the people who couldn't attend but the photos already say most of it and the rest should stay on tour...especially Karen Pini, lol.

However, I do want to repeat my thanks to the organisers and helpers, of whom there seemed to be many. Tough to single out anyone without being unfair but Andrew, Taka, Stu, Danielle, Craig, Kalli and Cromax were all active making things happen without complaints and a friendly smile. Andrew in particular did it all whilst seeming on the brink of collapse from illness - very glad he could pop enough Panadol to enjoy some track time. Thanks guys, I'm very proud to be a NSW member of OzRenesis.

I also find I learn so much from talking to guys like Rod, Glenn, Len and Uncle Pete. Even though times weren't my mission this year, it's nice to know you've generally got the right idea re: gears to be in and where to push hard, etc. And I think we all enjoyed the healthy rivalry Rod and Glenn developed throughout the day. Both winners in my book and of course Craig showed us what a turbo car can do. Top stuff!

Also fabulous to renew some old friendships and meet some new faces. It really is a great crowd of people who get along to this event each year and those who are yet to get their **** together to do so really are missing out on one of the best reasons to own this car.

Besides anything else, you get a front row seat to learn how a cunning old lawyer can rig a name draw, lol....

Here are a couple pics Danielle took!

If you look closely you can see a few RX8's in a couple of them

My youngest son Tommy kept going back to the ambulance to get more band aids because they kept falling off his grazed hand from when he came off his scooter.

It was the only action the ambulance dude saw all day as my other son Matty was too stubborn to get his grazed leg looked at.
