That used to work once a upon a time Kall....but those days are long gone! I'm going out tonight in the first of a long list of Xmas parties to go to tonight....

...but I'll still be able to ring up as agreed and find out the state of play, and I'll post up the results when I get back tonight...

Well people this is the latest.....at this stage Morgan Park can only offer us Sunday the 12th October 2008 (Bathurst sunday).

There is a possibility for the last weekend in October, however that clashes with the 2008 Warwick Rodeo and Campdraft which is held from 20 to 26 October. I am reliably informed that 99% of accomodation in Warwick and District is booked out 12 monhs in advance for that event.

The remainder is as follows...

July/August = fully booked out.

September/October are all penciled in with other clubs who have to still get back with their confirmation (except Rodeo weekend)

OPTIONS...

1. Consider later dates on offer i.e. 22/23 or 29/30 November 2008 (too close to Xmas?)
2. Explore alternate venues i.e. Queensland Raceway

Can you think of any other options? If you can please let us know your thoughts....

We have this year's Nats at the Bathurst weekend.

November is getting too hot.

Whatever it is... it is so far out that people can adjust. Make your decision fast.

I don't have an issue with the date proposed but would prefer a Saturday if it can be had.

Don't wait too long though. Just book it and people can make plans accordingly.

We're in. I have just confirmed our interest for Sunday 12th October 2008.

Morgan Park has made it clear we now have to write a letter to them outlining our requirements. We need to confirm we have a Cams event permit and advise them what type/level of event we will undertake. The Morgan Park committee will then decide if they can meet those requirements.

At that point I had to ask the obvious question..."Is there an issue with the RX8 club?" He answered "yes, they have a bad reputation."

I was able to learn about 12 months ago an RX8 driver was allegedly driving erratically around the track, and ended up crashing into a side wall causing considerable damage. He was reluctant to provide any details of the event or identify the driver involved (quite rightly so) but the incident caused the club some grief.

I assured him that this incident had no connection with our club, nor had any of our members ever caused any similar issues or grief in the history of the club.

I informed him of some of our occupations (yes Kall including me!) and some of our stakeholder relationships, which made him feel a bit more at ease. He became a lot more positive and amicable in his discussion.

Now I understand why he's been a bit wary of us, but we will turn that around.

First things first - our core committee members will now mobilise and have a round table conference to co-ordinate our future planning.

We still have a couple of hoops to jump through and we need to first draft up that letter and get confirmation from their committee it’s a goer. I've been provided the details such as names, phone number of the Queensland Cams Office, address etc.

Morgan Park has had a bad experience with one RX8 driver, and I very much doubt that person is part of our RX8 community. I’m very positive our negotiations will be carried forward in an appropriate and responsible manner, which will give us the best chance of a good outcome for us.

Your thoughts so far....?

Trev, OzRenesis is a CAMS affiliated club. If you want I will look into getting the permit through the club. Only issue here becomes that everyone will need to have a CAMS license and the only way to get a cams license is to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club.

I have sent you a PM with a few details.

Cheers

That comment came out of left field and surprised me too Timbo. It amazes me how one incident can be perceived a certain way, which in turn can really damage someones reputation. I suppose its no different when people are unjustly stereotyped.

We'll overcome it and turn it around the other way....

That surprises me too.... I am sure there is one bad driver own every make and model in the world. Ferrari included! Ask someone that host nice events at Sandown....

OzRenesis can assist in any way ... we will love to do so.

If Morgan Park does not include the hire fee with permit fee... tell them to discount the price considerably. Coz a considerable part of the hired fee should be the permit fee (hint: they are expensive).

As in the level, it is a club sprint event (non race)... we have to wait until the turn of the year to see if there is any increase in pricing.

So everyone better start getting a CAMS licence.

Trevor

Maybe we should refer him to the owners of Wakefield Park, I have no doubt they would give us a glowing report following our two successful events held there in 2005 and 2006.
It makes you mad when one stupid person can spoil it for the genuine RX8 enthusiast.

LOL... so do we pick up Porsche pieces on the 12th???

I suggest you investigate if accommodation is available. I suggest we get ahead of them in booking places.

Trevor, I would argue the case for a S7G permit. Its what we earmarked for our events if we use CAMS permits. Its a single fee for the entire day (in answer to your PM).

Cheers

Thanks for clarifying that Andrew. The other questions we need to include in our response are the names of the attending officials, the level of the event (which would determine the final cost) and what facilities we would be needing at the track.

Trevor, can you identify the options?

Basically it should be defined as a club sprint, multi-car (meaning more than one car on the track at a time) event. As a minimum you should have a an ambo, they may require fire engine at that time of year. We would want garages, maybe flags unless someone else has some. If they have catering onsite then its a lot easier to do that for lunch.

If you have any more details then post them here.

Cheers

Trevor.....(you'll soon be sorry you've taken this on ) ....it's probably wise to make a visit to Morgan Park and meet the guy earlier rather than later, so he's sees he's not dealing with d!ckheads

Thats OK Timbo...I won't think for one minute we'll be challenged a few times, but combined with a strong level of support in our Queensland contingent, and the level of expertise on this forum we should be fine. (Don't quote me on that when things start turning to s*it!) lol

Andrew, your definition of a club sprint, multi-car event sounds spot on. Hymee mentioned about the Ambo and Firies, I would hope that garages are a standard feature these days, flags ..????? and we'll ask about catering onsite.

Anyhow, I found a few more pics of the track....

Flags are so you can flag people down and warn of any danger on the track. We generally use them near the pit exit to signal the end of a session.

As for the track to use:
Length: Circuit “A” 730m
Circuit “B” 1200m
Circuit “C” 1000m
Circuit “D” 1500m
Circuit “E” 2100m

I would say we want track E.

Cheers

I thought I'd give everyone an indication of the track times at Morgan Park. Our friends in the Porsche club have kindly posted up their lap times.

Its interesting to see they had over 65 participants in their sprints event a couple of weeks ago...we might get near that! (We'll try anyhow)
