The Norwell option looks very interesting.

I vote we go for that one if we can't work anything else out and he thinks he can get us in.

Volunteers?
Sorry,I like everyone else it seems do not have the time to organise such an event but I am happy to help as much as I can. I was just suggesting locations as most of us are stilll doing at this stage and most of the countries owners live in nsw. Be happy to help out with "cost models" etc too.. Hope to see you there "Timbo"

Len, unless someone puts their hand up to progress the role of coordinator, Morgan Park looks very much on shaky ground.

If I hear nothing by the end of next week, I'll contact George and depending on what he can further suggest, may have to then call Bill Campbell and tell him we wont be moving forward on the option.

Built for Holdens though! Notice the lack of tight hairpins.

Sweepers in the 8 will be fun though...

Subject: Re rx8 NATIONALS

Hi Trevor,

I had a bit more of a think regarding the Nationals. I have a few ideas:

OPTION 1/ USE MT COTTON AND RUN SKID PAN SESSIONS FOR DSC AND NON DSC. We can then set up the LVMA as a Motorkhana Circuit for everyone to have a practise run and then a timed go.

OPTION 2: Holden Performance Driving Centre at Norwell. Using the circuit so that everyone gets track time, and can have a good safe run in there cars. I think a good follow up to this is to have a few options as follows:

Show and shine at the Broadwater Car Park, and a cruise along the coast over Murwullimbah Mountain Range and back in through Tweed Heads coming back down the coast.

Also Accomodation can be negotiated and I was thinking that a good place to stay is a place called AUSTRALIS SOVERIEGN, I would recommend doing this through a travel broker such as Globalnet travel.

These are just a few ideas, I spoke to Mazda they are keen to support the project.

I was also thinking that a great way to get attendance figures up is to ask Mazda to send out to all current RX8 owners advising them of the event, I think this could easily double your attendance and therefore reduce running costs.

Mazda are keen to support, I just need some formal approach from you, and I am then happy to put that forward.

Regards

George Foessel

That all sounds fabulous Trev but experience has told us that venues need to be booked in asap with enough lead time to attract attendees.

What is the plan to convert George's ideas into action? Is it enough for you to simply say yes to him and get the thing on the road?...

Any progress on this?If something isn't booked very soon, this thing will be dead in the water.
I seem to remember Queensland having a whinge when the Nats went to Winton in 07 as they were "gunna" do something up there.
So,here's your big chance to show all us Southerners what you can do.
Time is fast running out, what with people needing plenty of organising to enter these things, plus get time off work etc.
I fear that if something concrete doesn't happen very soon, the 2008 Nats will be history.
Cheers
Len

Hmm...not even an echo, Len. Might be worth poking things along in the .com.au forum.

C'mon guys someone reply-even if it's to tell us it's dead in the water.
Not very helpful when we can't even get an answer.
Not leaving much time if anyone in another state wants to try and do something....

Welcome Back Roxy8. Basically as Macca said ... Nothing. It appears there is no one with enoughtime to organise it this year.

My current take on it is to forget this year and plan next years.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. You can probably tell by my absence just how much under the pump I'm under from a time management perspective. Andrew is right...we may have to focus on next year, and with interest rates and petrol prices reaching ridiculous levels...it might be a good thing to hold off for now anyhow!!! I sent an email off to George regarding Mazda sponsorship, and the prospect of him help put together a revised format and he's in the same boat as the rest of us.

He's asked to meet up next week with a coffee...I'll ask if Jambos, Hymee, Ltd, mdr etc can turn up, and advise the outcome.....

Welcome back Roxy 8.

I would love to help make this event a reality however, our new construction company has taken off and become much bigger than I ever imagined and I cannot see myself being free until I manage to find the right staff to step into my shoes.

I guess Hymee is too busy with getting his venture up and going.

We should consider other options as without someone in Qld to steer the ship it aint gonna happen....lets stop flogging a dead horse.

The easiest option is to tee up with the Victorian organisation again to keep it going or maybe back to Wakefield if it can be organised.

I appreciate your frustration Macca, I know you were looking forward to it as were many others. Late last year I was in a position to run with this, but life took a turn. It would have been great to utilise someone who had the time to pull this thing together, but everyone is in the same boat. For now, I'll keep attending our spur of the moment cruises.

I'm a firm believer in if you're going to do something - you've got to do it right. The last thing we need is a half hearted effort which could have turned into a cluster f*%&#.

Unless someone can pull a rabbit out of a hat....next year....

I know its a big ask Andrew, but how about Ozrenises hosting it at Winton again?

You guys did a fantastic job last year. There was a decent turn out and it is probably the best racetrack to suit our cars anyway.

I would love to see it held at Winton again this year. The first 2 years were at Wakefield so I dont see why the we couldn't have 2 in a row at Winton.

After saying all of that, I know its a huge undertaking and I totally understand if the club cant do this.

Cheers
Glenn

Mate I would love to but the undertaking isnt my biggest issue. Its the lack of turnout. With Mazda no longer interested in helping out and effectively only large numbers of RX-8's from NSW/VIC we couldnt scrape together 30 cars last year. And its looking like less people interested in it this year.

I am going to ask trevor to help me out here and keep a count on the 1 post of how many are interested in a) attending and b) if they prefer Wakefield, Winton or either. If in the next week we can show 30 people interested in 1 place then I will consider it. Any less than that and its not financially via as we wont get squat from Mazda this year, they just aren't interested.

You can start with me as either.

I understand Andrew, I didn't realize we need more than 30 to make it viable. I know I could get more people to enter if it wasn't just limited to RX-8s. My mate in the green RX-3 would defiantly go and a few of my mates with FD's would run as well. Perhaps we could have the RX nationals?

Who on here would be keen to run at Winton again?

Maybe we could ask RENEW (Rotary enthusiasts of NSW) if we could all come to one of their track days this year as an unofficial RX8 nationals/ rotary track day?
