400km+ per tank with re-flash
thats right, for the first time ever i saw 412km on the speedo after the re-flash!
Power is holding great and alot more responsive. I normaly had around 340-360km per tank so this is unreal!

i did about 30 km on the E light.
Mind you I have 16,000kms on the clock and i watch my km's pretty closely with regard to fuel and style of driving. There is definatly some gains there in economy and power.

Here is my record:

BTW - That was with "E" PCM Calibration.
30km on the light? I've found about 50-70km is safe, 100 is pushing it. But I don't want to be the cause of people running out of gas!!!
Cheers,
Hymee

you get realy big gains in fuel economy just by doing some highway driving IMO. from my experiance round town I get about 300km per tank by throwing in 100km+ of highway you can extend the tank to 400km+ with more highway driving you would see 500km like I got with my first few tanks.

i don't know how you guys drive the car
but the max i got out of a full tank is 290km and thats like driving the baby at 70k
what can i do to inprove my fuel consumption??
is it the fuel i put in ??
by the way what petrol you put in your cars?

Typically, I get a shade under 11L/100km around town (Brisneyland). However, I drive mainly from the west to a northern suburb, relatively light traffic and near speed limit most of the way. Idling really cuts into fuel economy. So does max. acceleration to the speed limit.
Under 10L/100km on the highway is easily achievable.
BTW, I'm driving on the original ECU flash - I took delivery on 1 August 2003. I'm booking in for my 20,000km service shortly, and will have it done then.

First full tank on G flash - mostly short trips - reasonable traffic - no crawling - but plenty of red lights. A few redlines.
I got 350km's before fuel light. 14.5L/100. Economy may be slightly better than before the flash.

Nah i get 415 MAX now.
I do thrash around town quite a bit. I'm always first off the lights and pushing around corners. I've also noticed alot less soot on the exhaust.

All good news to me as a future RX-8 owner.
I must say the recent fuel hikes and the 8.5c premium for Ultimate at BP servo's has had me thinking about the wisdom of buying a thirstier car than my current one (yes the SP20 is a premium only car - mine drinks Ultimate by preference).

Kas, I bought mine from Werribee and will need to decide on service shortly. Did they do the ECU upgrade for you? How did you find them generally?
Cheers

Ian, speak to sam - hes the service manager. Without a question or a hint he booked me in for the upgrade with my service. Hes a genuine person that knows cars.

I just completed a long trip with my '8 and recorded 425kms on a tank (full - until the light comes on). Driving was between 80-100kmh using cruise control for long straights. I didn't drive conservatively - just drove it like a 'normal' car.
