Bugger all!! But some people would just prefer a material filter to a paper one.

Kimba2 you can order a K&N filter at autobahn, but from personal experience I have found BMC filters to be of a better quality(also available through autobahn).

That is a good answer

From my experience, I found the KingDragon to be better made than K&N.

Note - the RX-8 tech's training manual recommends to replace "wet" filters with the OEM paper element if the customer presents the car with a bad-idling condition. Related to how the filter effects the air flow over the MAF sensor.

Cheers,
Hymee.

It comes in with the filter as a cleaning pack... one bottle to clean, another spray can to oil it. Easy. Do it every 10K km... I remember from way back that I cleaned one and turn it from charcoal black to red :D

Are you talking about a K&N Pod or a replacement element?

I don't understand that a different element would change the sound as it is all in an nice cold-air box.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I agree Hymee, I have installed a replacement k&n filter on another vehicle with no appreciable sound increase. I cammot see why it would be different on the RX8

The pod however may be louder.
