2 questions. Firstly, why do they trying to hide the fact that $3000 for 2 calipers and discs and secondly who with a F mind would just offer to sell the front not the rear to his customers.

It's a free market economy. They can choose a price to sell and you can choose a price to pay. If price to pay < price to sell, they don't get your business.

At least he is up-front with the cost. And it is there in black and white.

I've never upgraded brakes like that, but I don't think the price is extremely different to what people generally pay for that sort of thing.
