Anniversary Drive

The Finance Director and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by taking out new Titanium Grey RX-8 for a spin up to Tin Can Bay for a sea food lunch.. A nice 500+ km round trip..

Probably the first comment we both noticed was that this thing pulls from sixth gear like nothing else on earth.. We used cruise control on the the main highway... Stayed in 6th gear and the beast kept the same speed no matter how big the hill was... No losing 3km/hr - 0km/hr.. Absolutely awesome.. (I thought it worthwhile sharing this with the rev/petrol heads in the group as I am real sure that their cruise control has never been used...) :D

On the way back we took a drive on the very windy 70km Kin Kin road loop.. This is where the car really shines.. The damn thing sticks to the road like glue and rides beautifully.. I gained much more confidence with the car after this part of the trip.. I can even change the gears properly now!

A great day was had by all... Now we have to book the 1,000Km service...

It is getting better every day... By the end of the drive I noticed that it was happy to rev to 6,500 but no further.. Maybe the computer is managing this????

My car really came alive after 20,000km once the engine totally loosened up , but dont be afraid to drive it harder but sensible as you put on the extra km;s , yes the computer is a learning computer , however you should be able to go past 6500km after 1000km .

If you baby your car in its earlier life it will not like it when you try and push harder at a later time , most of the plugs and flooding problems seem to come from the ones that are not driven in a spirited manner , the plugs get fouled easier and the ECU learns to be lazy .

cheers

I really hope the test pilots from the dealer demo I purchased revved it well before I got it
At least it is getting a good rev now that it has 10,000 on the clock
