Hymee,

So in your rev 2 of the protector, what are your thoughts on rotating the mesh 45 degrees?

Call me fussy (when I'm in a dress maybe) but I tend to think it would be more in keeping with the car's general theme if it was cocked over to the diagonal.

I can appreciate this would be a little more work and would probably result in more waste material ...

your thoughts?

Des,

I have also asked Hymee for a grill kit when the next batch are ready. I am from Sydney as well but I don't have the time to travel to Brisbane. Maybe we can organise something for the Sydney siders who place an order for the next batch?

Kev,

What are your thoughts? Any one else from Sydney placing an order with Hymee?

Kev, JoeB,

You don't have to be in Brisbane to get one of Hymee's kits. He will mail it to you registered post. I'm in Newcastle and I got one of Hymee's first 8 kits mailed to me. Postage was only $20.

My thoughts...

Well anything is possible, but somethings are not always practical. Your suggestion is entirely possible, and I even considered it myself.

Here is my list of againsts:
  • More difficult to cut out.
  • Perhaps messy edges - cutting the wire grid on the diagonal. would leave lots more daggy bits.
  • More wastage, but probably not a massive amount.
  • You basically can't see it anyway.
  • The way I cut the lower grills off the roll of mesh gives them a gently curve in the vertical plane, that suits the bumper very nicely. I wouldn't want to flatten/recurve on the diagonal - but like I said, anything is possible.
  • It is black, and you basically can't see it anyway.
  • It probably wouldn't suit the bottom fastenings as nicely.
  • Unless you wanted to leave it silver and look ricey, you basically can't see it anyway.

Did I mention you can't see it :p. Therefore I don't think it worth the effort, but if you really want like that, let me know, you might get a special edition.

I thought L&L would have reported his fitment by now. I hope he hasn't had any problems

Cheers,
Hymee

Every time L&L goes near his car he blacks out and eventually wakes up 100k's from home, sitting at the wheel of his 8.

He tells his wife it's aliens doing it - I hear she's been discussing him with her colleagues...

ROFL!

Now I am homesick. All I have to drive is a Ford Tear-**** on the wrong side of the road.

PS - I just saw L&L's fitment post. :D :D :D

Cheers,
Hymee.

Thank you D.G.W.

That is cheaper than travelling from one side of Sydney to the other when you consider time and fuel! (Although worth the drive in the RX-8).

Well, just as two rotars are better than one... two rotarheads are better than one :D At least having timbo there should ensure that I don't mount it on the wrong end of the car or something equally stupid...:D :D :D

Oh dear, the mental image of two grown men having their hands stuck up under each other's front aprons ...

Well, please at least be responsible - beware of any leaking fluids and be careful not to scratch each other's delicate parts.

Apart from that, I guess it's a case of "whatever spins your rotor" ...

...

Damn!!! I thought I was sneaking up there without being noticed

Some how the expression "looking at the world through yellowish coloured glasses" doesn't sound right. Oh hang on, it's "rosy coloured glasses" ... and that would be RED!!! :D

Hymee,

I received the kit on Tuesday, thanks, looks great. I plan to fit this weekend, so I will posy my results when finished. I will take L&L's comments as an indication that I should have no probs.

Cheers,

Tony

Hymee, Just came across this thread. Are you still taking orders? Did you ever get around to making the diagonal cut version? What are the costs, including shipping in $US? I would remit via PayPal. Thanks.
