Any Mid-Pipe manufactured in Australia?

Hey Guys,
I'm just after a midpipe, preferably one manufactured in Oz. No particular reason other then supporting aussie business. Does anyone know where i could purchase one from?

Thanks for your help,
Gavin.

Cheers for that. Looks like l have the following choices (prices for anyone else interested):
  • $742.50 METALLIC CONVERTER
  • $775.50 METALLIC CONVERTER FOR FORCED INDUCTION CARS
  • $154.00 CATLESS MID PIPE (FOR FULL RACE APPLICATIONS)
  • $264.00 CATLESS MID PIPE (FOR FORCE INDUCTION VECHILES)

I'm leaning towards the first one, since the full race pipe would be illegal (and epa fines are way too expensive). I could be wrong there however...

Pics:

Any other recommendations? Should l import? By the way, l've already installed the Borla cat back, which is why l'm after just the mid-pipe.

Thanks.

If you want to help the Australian economy, why not just go to the local exhaust shop and get it custom made?

TurboXS is an Aussie company. Last I looked it was cheaper to buy from the US and ship it back. WIth the current AUD exchange rate I doubt that is still the case though.

Cheers

it depends on what your budget is.

the SMB exhaust straightens the cat section and has tapered pipe instead of abrupt changes in the diameter. both of these design factors should improve flow compared to other designs.

a local shop may be cheaper at a midpipe but I doubt you would get the same quality/design as a SMB cat-pipe.

importing might save you some money however again you wouldn't get the design of the SMB exhaust.

check this hks midpipe out in comparison.

looks like you get the same thing; a cat at the front and a resonator at the rear. but then you notice that the cat has short transitions and the bends form a s-bend in the center.

I would go for the SMB. Even with a custom job from another company, I really doubt they will have the experience that SMB have with Mazda's(they helped dsign the RX7-SP exhaust with Mazda Oz) and whether they will put in the same effort that SMB did in designing it. I know that it took SMB 3 weeks and about 4 or 5 different mock ups to get it right and they dyno'd it each time until they thought they could do no more out of it. They really did their homework.

Yeah, the exchange rate is one of the reasons l wanted to see what Aussie companies offer.

Looks like the SMB midpipe it is. I wasn't after something cheap and nasty (like from a local shop), just wanted to check what Australia had before l went rushing into the purchase. I did that with the Borla, although l'm not regretting that one. I'd agree, the overall design looks better flowing to that of the HKS, can't hurt that Mazda Oz went with them either!

Thanks for the help guys. Will let you know how l go/thoughts...
