Long story and I am really to angry to talk about it now, but I now have 1 cracked front left rim and bulging tyre.
Is there anyone in the Melbourne area willing to either lend or or sell one rim and tyre if they have it lying around?
Urgently if possible as the car is undriveable until such time.
Regards
Andrew

Some concilation...earlier this week I saw a brand new Monaro do something similar but was far worse than you all his wheels where bent. Front tires looked bent badly ...looked like broken control arm.
There was also some panel damage. He also had brand new bling bling chrome 20 inch wheels

Actually I still dont know that it was that bad. You can see that it was quite a glancing blow (see the deep scuffing right on the lip of the rim) and the car drove straight on the way home.
Tomorrow will tell, I have a new rim now (640 odd $$'s) and will see when the tyre comes off if its damaged. Once that is sorted, it will have an all 4's alignment and then I will know if the suspension is damaged.
Wish me luck.

Andrew I don't think you should use that tyre even if it looks okay.
Its amazing how the stock wheels seem to fall apart. My friend had a ball joint let go in his Tribute, basically the front left side of the suspension totally collapsed. The best way I can describe the front rims is that they "exploded" - very nasty and very dangerous.

That is starting to be my impression (about the wheel/rim itself being very soft). Why do you say that about the tyre? I am having a professional look at it and if he isnt 100% sure its safe then its no go.

Well got it all back. Luckily no suspension damage and the tyre was perfect. Adjustment was out 7mm (I believe this is what he said...need to check the job sheet) but that was all ...PHEW!

The tyre wall will most definitely have been weakened - think about it, for the rim to be damaged the tyre has fully compressed, then been jammed into the rim so hard that the rim broke. I wouldn't trust it no matter what anyone told me.

I, like deano, am ultra-conservative, when it comes to tyres. Any damage, get a new one. Think about it next time you are humming along at 100kph: ultimately, it is just that small patch of rubber that keeps you safely on the road!

My first thought was that the tyre had a buldge, but the guy at Bob Jane explained to me that the "incident" was more a side impact than head on. The worst that happened was the tyre was pushed sideways. What I saw as a buldge was more that the rim was compressed/out of shape.
