taka and ILIV48, I am confused. When you say "Ford GT"
Do you mean the lard-*** on the left, or the incredibly more beautiful but totally impractical on the right??

heh heh heh, I'd forgotten about the 'new' GT40.
I agree - that is a sports car.
The fat bastard on the left is just that - a fat bastard with makeup on.

I detect a bit of...er...lust there
I'm not convinced ILIV48 meant the GT40 was the particular "Ford GT" that did not look good going around Sandown
Is there a GT40 in Australia??

Well I don't know about anyone else but those piccies got my juices flowing - thanks 'Mez, you hot car pimp you!!
Imagine the looks on people's faces if you 'popped the bonnet' at your local servo to check the oil!!!!!
Not sure about whether there are any of the new one's here Timbo - from memory some guy said he was going to bring one here but apparently it cannot be road registered.
There's a guy who makes a fine replica of the original GT40 shape with modern running gear (he's based in Vic from memory). My brother and I looked into buying one of the kits a while back (he's a whiz at building stuff like that) but the guy failed to respond to my further queries as to registration, insurance, etc and we lost interest. Would have cost us about $100K we reckoned.

For a moment you had me worried Dave....thought I was going to discover another VW beetle based replicar
Speaking of which, about 18mths ago, there was a guy down here selling a Ferrari Dino replicar...but the VW engine had been tossed and replaced with a 13B turbo. I had a brief look....the words 'death trap' came instantly to mind

Remember those awful Purvis Eureka things from the late 70s/early 80s??? They looked like the most exotic thing on the planet and then you'd hear the dak dak sound!

Liked Clarkson's hissy fit about the GT40.
But let's face it - he bought a car without proper service backup. Nothing more, nothing less. I think I would have been tempted to advise Ford that unless they could guarantee a fix for the alarm/mobiliser I intended to disconnect it and sue them for the damage if the thing was stolen.
As to the Bugatti Veyron - I can't decide if that thing is ugly cool or just ugly.
And the Ariel Atom - I want one of 'dem!!!
