I was surprised to find this while looking for parts.

I think the prices are comparable to what you can in Japan, plus shipped and taxed. It is only slightly more expensive than our club vendor offers.

What would the legalities be in NSW for that carbon splitters from that SE-02S kit?

I've heard that CF bonnets arent legal but would that also include the other bodykit parts??

I like the look although its a bit pricey

I thought it was more to do with crumple zones for collisions moreso than hitting pedestrians? (ie. cf doesnt crumple it shatters into pointy shards etc.) Yeh either way its a bit expensive! Looks kinda cool though, kinda like the SE lip on mx5

any modification to the car that has not been factory tested when they import the car through ADR? (i think thats what it call ) is deemed illegal.. that includes seat belt pad ! or.. even a in car perfume thingy stick in the air vents....

reasons i can think of is.. when they did a crash test.. the test was conducted without the seat belt pad.. which could have some kind of impact on the holding ability of the passenger's weight ... weight distribution spread across the belt itself.. yeh it sounds BS....

and the air vent perfume thingy could fly around and fly into ur eyes or something...

basically.. in an accident.. even those minor things could impact the results.. depending how much.. and how tight is the officer that will dig you...yes.. i heard ppl got digged for seat belt pads before... so yeh... any modification is illegal ~

is really up to yourself how you mod the car.. and what u consider is appropriate.. if u dont mind how legal it is.. ... like a turbo lurking in a rx8 is definitely more diggable then a cf bonnet.. when cf bonnet .. cops wont stop u 70% of the time ? where as turbo.. when they hear it spooling / waste gate popping / BOV atmo venting.. they will 90 % stop u ? just random numbers for comparison sake.. ~

Andrew must have something to say....

"Before you undertake any modification you should be aware of the legalities of the modifications you are making.

The following link is a good source of general information. Its not definative but a good guideline

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rd...340/0/VSI8.pdf "

is there a difference between carbon fiber and fiberglass? they both fail in a very similar way. I would guess only autoclaved prepreg carbon fiber would differ substantially in its failure. this means that a carbon lip would be just as safe as a glass fiber one.

then there is the question of legality. you have redneck's in 4wd's fitting bullbars that have been proven to reduce the crash safety of the occupant and pedestrians, obscure turn signals among other things and they are legal? yet a fiber bonnet (carbon or fiberglass) is illegal. I think when a public servant makes a biased decision like this they should be taken out and flogged.
