US AUSSIES NEED TO FIND A WAY TO FOOL THE 8S COMPUTER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INTO THINKING THAT WHEN WE PUT ADD ONS TO THE CAR THAT IT'S NOT AN ERROR BUT THAT IT IS OK ALL THIS WITHOUT EFFECTING THE DSC AND ABS OTHERWISE THERE IS NO USE IN SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY INTO TURBOS EXHAUST SYSTEM SUPERCHARGERS CASUE YOU'LL BE WASTING YOUR TIME.
SO YOU ROTOR MECHANICS WHO SAY THEY SPECIALISE IN ROTORS HERE IS A STRTING POINT FOR YOU:D

Truth is you will have to probabaly wait until a Aftermarket ECU comes out.

I run a Apexi Power FC in my FD and its great.

Its plug and play so you don't have to pay some monkey to wire it up.

Then you can adjust all the ign and fuel maps to suit your mods.

Plus it has a 8 x channel output so you can monitor all you sensors plus has a sensor / switch diagnostic feature to find faulty switch and sensors etc etc.

Plus will have all the bonus stuff like rev limiters etc tec

And the advanced stuff like inlet control to control the flappers

Launch control and you will be able to fully disable you DSC and T/C

I swear by my Power FC

Oh and Datalogging will be availible through FC-datalogic of course

I have NO ETA THOUGH

There are some efforts on this already. One reportedly sucessful way is to connect the front wheel sensor inputs to feed from the rears - i.e. parallel them.

No one will be able to do anything at all with forced induction until they use a comprehensive/suplementary fuel control system, or a reflashed ECU.

The eManage computer seems like is quite suited to this task. See my earlier post that links to the main Tech Garage thread. Very good info.

OURRX8S - BTW, could you look for the Caps Lock key All capitals is considered shouting - and it is hard to read! Thanks mate. :D

Cheers,
Hymee.

Maestro, couldnt agree more. EManage is utter rubbish by comparason. You still have a number of comprimises with a PFC though - namely knock sensor compensation being the major one, but you dont get that with many other aftermarket computers anyway.

Having said that, I'm still considering a reflashed ECU for my FD

hmm IMO i reckon the e-manage is a great tuning tool when your want to retain the stock ecu.
but agree with u that an after market stand alone is better suited for more extreme mods ie F.I.

I reckon the 2 utopias are:

1 - reprogram (re-calibrate) the stock ECU.
2 - Use a Motec.

The eManage obvious has it's limitations. It is cheap, but it does appear to give a lot of control over AFR's and Ignition. That is the main thing in a NA engine.

There are a lot of options. One of them is to retain the standard tune They each have there own advantages and disadvantages.

Cheers,
Hymee.

What ever path things end up going down, the reality is that we are stuck with the stock ECU forever. It just controls too many basic functions in the car to be removed completely. ABS, climate control, DSC, stereo, SRS, TSC, steering, tacho, headlight leveling system, blah, blah are all controlled by the ECU. Not to mention the engine as well!

Finding a way to remove control of the engine from the ECU while retaining other functionality is not going to be easy, but the spoils will go to whoever can work it out!

out of all the piggy back's out there on the market, from personal experience, e-manage does a better job. it has more mapping points then a S-afc II combined with a S-ITC. but this is on a 1.8 N/A lancer so **shrugs**
