Brake pad life?

Brake pad life?
I noted that in a recent post that Missy K had changed brake pads three times. I've just had my 60k service, and the report was that my pads are in good shape. Although I realize that higher brake wear can be anticipated when tracking the car, is there any feel out there for what might be considered average brake life under normal road driving?
I must admit that I'm a passionate stirrer of the gear box, and believe that brakes are for wimps, deserving of only the lightest of touches in normal driving circumstances.
BTW, my pads have only very rarely squeaked.

I don't think brake wears too much in normal circumstances. We are not allow to drive fast at all in Victoria. It is so slow here we can open the door, run in front of the car and push it to stop. . It should be easy to do 60K+ on a set of pads.
Having said that, embedding brake pads are not easy thing to do So keep the old pad as long as possible, but I will tend to change it if more than 50% worn.

Although I always downchange, I tend to think the brakes are there, they work damn well, so why not use them.

I had my OEM pads changed to EBC Red at all 4 corners at 12,000k's and they were about 1/4 - 1/3 used. I still have them in case of emergencies, but I am now on 23,000ks and have doen 4 track sessions. Last I looked they were about 50% used. Not sure that helps but imho OEM pads are very good and should last etween 60-80,000k's

During his career, Andretti won four IndyCar titles, the 1978 Formula One World Championship, and the 1979 IROC championship. To date, he remains the only driver ever to win the Indianapolis 500 (1969), the Daytona 500 (1967), and the Formula One World Championship.

And I still think his quote, while amusing, is misleading, disingenuous, chest-thumping bullshit.

Now whether you consider him to be the greatest racer ever or not, you can't question his record....or his versatility. He won on dirt, in F1, in NASCAR, in INDY cars, in endurance racing.....he won races in five separate decades.
Schumacher was just a short term single series specialist. And a cheat as well.

He may have been involved in his fair share of dubious 'incidents', but his ability, particularly in the wet, should no longer be in question.
For reasons stated earlier, I'd never say he was the best or any of that guff, but he has dominated his era in one of the most difficult motorsport categories there is. IMHO, that deserves a modicum of respect, whatever your view of his sense of sportsmanship.

FYI - my front pads were replaced at 40k (but the car's first 10k were done as a demonstrator). The rears (and the new fronts) should last a lot longer than that, although probably not if I continue the track days!
