Feul cap, front and rear rotor crests, strakes, mats, darker tint, RX8 sill panels (standard ?) on the road with panels painted and fitted for $57,900. I was amazed.....the base car, sorry guys, was approx $7K less than when I first enquired 9 months ago and even with all the options listed was approx. $4K less. The leather pack could have been added for $5K extra. So, if your looking...try just North of the Bridge in Sydney or down on the northern just along from Manly...but don't buy the Auto !
Would you please PM me your recommended dealer just North of the Bridge in Sydney and down on the northern along from Manly?

Delivery....

I could have taken it on Sunday....or today I guess. But, I ordered the extra body kit panels which need to be color match painted, baked and fitted......so I will pick on the weekend or maybe Monday, certainly before end of month which is Tuesday....they will want their money. End of month is the best time to buy....and the 3 Qtr is always slow for car dealers and other business...people are doing tax returns and sitting on their cash ! If you can do a deal this week for pick up before Tuesday, I think you'll get a good deal....Cheers

If you waited this long to get one i personally would have waited a few more months and got myself a 05 car instead ofa june .....04 since you are so concerned over getting a good deal , the 05 car will have better re-sale value even though its a pov pack .

cheers
michael

Johnny come lately...with $$$ in his pocket !

Dear Michael,

Firstly, you are so right about this, I am kicking myself. NOT. I could have waited and spent extra dollars on a 2005, probably closer to the amount you paid as an early adopter ! :D but I didn't want the new blue and the other changes are minor, oh, except for the retractable key ring !

Secondly, obviously I wanted a good deal but I wasn't concerned about it like you seem to be, but thanks for caring...'Original' was interested in the current pricing and deals available so I detailed it and stated it is a good time to buy. Any problem with that ? Isn't that the purpose of the forum ?

Thirdly, I don't plan on reselling it any time soon, so resale actually isn't that critical. So as I see it, its Pov pack vs Sucker pack....if you actually think the leather pack option are worth $6K extra, good on you ! Its the oldest marketing trick in the book.....use the low value options to increase the overall margin, after all they are "must have options" right ? Personally, I would like to use that money for a supercharger on my Pov pack in the future .... and if you think you'll get that money back on resale...kiss it good bye now !

And finally, I lived in Miami for 11 years and had several 3rd Gens during that time (last '94MB pics attached), so perhaps I don't actually qualify as a Johnny come lately .... But I am curious, as a self described "innovator pioneer RX8 pilot", wtf have you actually innovated or pioneered ? How to spend extra cash ?

Oh, and as far as the body kit goes, I just wanted something a little different, don't see many out there with it, any problem there ?

Cheers to you
Mac

Nice post 'mac.

I can't see any point in waiting 6 more months for an '05 model, then paying full sticker for it.

You cut a very good deal, and I for one appreciate your detailed post on your strategy. I'm glad you saved the money for the blower

Don't worry about "Ready, Fire, Aim" too much. You'll get used to him. He is only listed in the moderators' "Problem Child" area 4 times for personal attacks

Cheers,
Hymee.

It is true... it takes a brave heart and paying top dollar to buy something pre launch, taking the pre-launch sale track day by Mazda, being the first people in Australia to drive the car on track, even the same day as the publists from Motor and Wheels, chating about the car during lunch. I did analyse the car, felt the car and made my own mind before anyone (including the wheel mags) made a single word of comment. I drove the car in Mallala even before the Gan san video from Best Motoring Japan work itself to the shore of Australia.

After all this internation engine awards, wheel COTY awards and all this positive reviews later, a lot of people decided to join in and own "the car". If I were one of them, I feel like I do not "own the car" as much as Taka had now patiently waited the car to be ordered for 6 months, known the VIN number that booked to be made and shipped, and finally arrived in the dealer's door with only 5km in the odometer. Now --- this is your car. That is part of the reason of why I did not buy a S2K or a STi and why I did put down a payment for a EVO 8 but did not get one.

Anyway, all you arewelcome to the family and happy for your choice.

Cheers,
