Buying RX-8 Advice & Should I get an RX-8 now? (merged)

Should i get a new RX-8 now, the new leather pack with sunroof, is only ard 56k.
But I am worried that it will be replaced by a new model very soon, ie next year?

Or should i get a 05 rx 8 for ard 45k, and change to a new one when the new rx 8 is out.

No news for a new RX-8 yet.

Update of colour maybe, that is about it.

The most reliable rumour is 2010.

If you can go private, youd get a heaps better deal.

Do your research before going straight to the stealership

I saw a demo with Leather & sunroof advertised 52990 drive away the week after I paid 54000 for mine. Then Mazda reduced the RRP to 49990 + orc which is about 54000 anyway.

I agree with Taka. There is no real sign of a new model on the horizon, and 2010 is a possibility. I think with any sports car, you would want to buy new to be assured of a thrash-free experience. You can try a broker like Private Fleet if you want to take the pain out of haggling.

Try a broker like Private Fleet, to see what they can do on a new one.

I merged your 2 threads, coz I think they are talking about the same thing...

Get a 2nd hand when it is a bargin. If you want hassle free, think new car, if you can afford it.

There is a lot of wear and tear on the parts, like clutch, brake, rotor, gearbox and its oils when you thrash/track your car....

The new model has all the update has been in the preceding years. Not all the RX-8s has been all TSB and recall properly. Need to check those. You can find the recall thread and start motor and plug thread in this regional forum.

I say wait!

There is always something new coming down the track, with better performance and more features...and it'll be cheaper, too. That way, you won't suffer any buyer's remorse and then have bragging rights over everyone else here! Moreover, through creative procrastination, you can continually congratulate yourself on how lucky you were not to have paid the previous demanded price -- new or used.

Besides, what do you want a sports car for now, anyway? You can't really use it in the manner it is intended and in a couple of years your needs will change -- family etc, -- meaning a 4WD or people-mover will be a much better car to have. This in itself will totally vindicate the process of procrastination!

There is no rule in the book to have only one car under your name. I am buying a family 4WD that can tow my 8 to the circuit....

Work harder and earn more.
