Canberra: Navigation Cruise: Sunday 28 September, 2003

Hi!

REACT is having a social event on Sunday 28th September. All rotor enthusiasts (not just REACT members) are invited. Some meat will be provided for a BBQ but it might be wise to bring some salad and/or bread.

Essential Details
What: Navigation Cruise and BBQ
Meeting point: Carpark in Prospect Court, Phillip
Date: Sunday, 28 September
Time: Meet at 10am, depart at 10.30am. Lunch around 12.00 to 12.30. Bring your own lunch.
Contact: Ben (Saru) by email: ben.kraal@ise.canberra.edu.au or 0405 734 832

Longer details
This event is a social event that takes place in and around Canberra. Think of it as a cruise with a quiz built in. Total distance is about 50kms so it's suitable for all types of cars. You will need a passenger to help answer questions!

Starting at our Southside meeting point, attendees will be given a set of instructions for winding their way around Canberra and a series of questions to answer along the way. You'll probably need a passenger to help answer the questions and navigate. Questions and maps will be provided on the day. Please bring your own pen and something firm to write on.

We'll finish at one of the fine picnic spots around Canberra for lunch and presentation of the prize. Bring your lunch and your navigator along for a fun day driving around Canberra and socializing with other REACT members.

Please contact Ben (Saru) by email ( ben.kraal@ise.canberra.edu.au ) or on 0405 734 832 if you plan on coming to the Three Peaks run. Numbers are needed so that an adequate number of maps and questions can be prepared.

The prize [0]
The prize for most questions answered correct is a rotor shaped key chain. The nickel plated rotor itself is very detailed and quite heavy.

Thanks to Andy for the keyring. Other keyrings are available from Andy's website: http://hometown.aol.com/rotary13b1/m.../business.html

The consolation prize is a genuine Mazda RX-8 stress toy!

[0] REACT paid for both prizes out of money gained from membership fees. Only paid members are eligible for the prize. You can join REACT on the day.

Would love to come along with my black 8... but you could almost have not picked a worse day this year... due to work commitments, won't be able to make it.

Well, everyone enjoyed themselves, even if we didn't have any '8s actually on the run!

I believe we met Pepe at the beginning and there were a number of other '8 encounters along the route so I'm told. We even came across a green '8 in the park at Black Mtn Peninsula!

In traditional REACT fashion the day was dominated by white 1st generation RX-7s though.

Thanks for the Sticky, Mods. This can be un-stickied now

as long as this is still right up the top here, why not check out the writeups and photos (sorry no '8s) from this event:
