canzoomer stage 2 - +40HP

CZ-2 Stage2 Fuel/Air/Ignition controller kit, 40+HP, 6MT only, off road use only

Its soo tempting to look at 40HP like this and buy it, however I am sceptical that gains that big are attainable after Ric Shaws piggy back and Hymee's tests. I do appreciate all of the development and time canzoomer has put into this ecu, dont get me wrong.

Anyone know how the tests went on this chip and whats going on with developments. Last I read was it didnt work all to well down under??

Kas,

That is 30kW, so you could add that to the advertised 19kW you get from your exhaust/intake and have 49 extra kW!!!

Wow - that would be 65HP!!!

And I didn't think the capabilities of the stage 2 were any different than the stage 1 now, as he "lets" you tune stage 1 nowadays. I would recommend you get that done anyway.

L&L's car will be tested with the "latest" CZ unit very soon. Probably have some tuning done on it as well to suit Aussie cars/computers/conditions. Thanks to first adopters like him and emack plus the efforts of others, hopefully you will know soon.

PS - If you want 10HP or so for free, have a search on some of my other posts.

Oh - I must remind everyone of a funny thing on the LS1 forum from a while ago. There was this strange phenonemom that the Mexican cars seemed to make about 26kW more than similar cars in QLD. It was put down to difference in dynos and testing conditions. It was (is??) common for them to put there "rwkW" figures in there ride description - so big numbers looked good.

One member cracked a joke, something about "This guy, his SS and his extra 26kW walked into a bar..." Funny stuff.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Kas,

Try running your car on the dyno when it is at "Normal Operating Temperature", then try running it when it is really hot like after 1 hour of dyno work.

Compare runs 25 and 58 on following graphs I first reported at https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...840#post311840

Run 25 (Standard tune + Hymee exhaust) = ~181 HP
Run 58 (Standard tune + Hymee exhaust) = ~188 HP

(OK - not 10 but 7 - I exaggerated, like I always do to BS y'all . With a carefull choice of other plots, I could find a warm run 1.5HP less, and a hot run 1.5HP more which will be 10HP difference. The plots we did pick to publish were indicative.)

Cheers,
Hymee.

Tuning is the only way to go....

Unless the tuner is an absolute dill... anyone that knows how to tune a car will tune the car to max available power for the car in 100 of dyno run. So I think anyone claims to have more like 50HP from a chip is just a con. Maybe he knows something that even the designer of the engine does not know!!!!!

Private Tuning is the only way to go for guarantee success... Hymee right?>

Custom tuning is naturally going to get the best out of any car. There are lots of production tolerances the factory tune must cater for.

Hymee.

when i did my 14.3 1/4 pass it was after racing a hsv clubsport, no doubt it was damn hot then.

maybe the thermostat opens right up and the engine actually runs cooler?

(Time) X (Distance travelled) X (wind factor) X (my mate has a better time) X (Marketing Hype so I can make lots of Money) = G-Tech Time.

Sorry KAS, G-Techs are we renouned for not being very accurate.

G-Tech just a fansy toy is it... it is not meant to be very very accurate. At least you can bring it to your test drive.

I don't want to flame anyone but would just like to point out engineering truths.

Having designed electronics around accelerometers and other similar devices, the accuracy is not enough to measure 1/4 mile times. It would be within about 0.3 of a sec.

The biggest problem is movement in the car, ie bumps and shakes, causes differing values to be read by the system, which alters the actual distance that has been travelled. This is most common during wheelspin in the launch.

Temperature plays a big part in the end number as well, as they are susceptible to temperature drift.

Yes it may have actually been a 14.3. But with the amount of error in the system it is unlikely.

I have heard that the new one that they just made is a lot better though with 3 accelerometers to compensate for it etc.
