heh heh, I wonder if my previous invitation to that cruise will now be taken up in greater numbers.

Welcome Trish. Good to have some new blood.

Nice colour choice too.

I'm 24 living in Hurstville Sydney, Civil Engineer in Transport engineering and project management, I did run a couple of demolition and redevelopment projects.
I own a grey 8 12/2005 model, purchased in june. I had 3 Skylines, 1 S13 and a 85' Honda City turbo II before, and now is my first NA sport car. I love rx-8, although it doesn't run quick, it gets excellent handling. Another main reason for buying rx-8 is for my girlfriend learn driving and she can still drive it after she gets her P licence.

Mate, you'd be surprised at how many people here would actually say:

"Have kids, hence the 8".

Seriously, the 8 is much more kid friendly than the other 2+2 coupes out there. Mind you, I think most of us with kids run two cars for when there's serious haulage requirements.

BTW, your avatar reminds me of the keyring I recently nicked off my wife's keys (she 'found' it).

I'm going to post here since there is no NZ forum .

40 something with three daughters "hence the 8"
Real estate investor that spends too much time on this forum looking for ways to have the quickest N/A 8 around - not too hard where I live
Want to get into car racing now that I can afford to do it - maybe do the NZ Targa next year .

The boot opening is a problem but there's a number of foldups that will fit.

However, I agree it's a better car for kids once they're getting around under their own steam.

I have a wife, one daughter and two large dogs.

We can all fit in the car providing the wife agrees to stay at home <evil chuckle>

pram and baby stuff fits in the boot, baby seat fits perfectly in the back seat.

with a pram i got a Mclaren Vogue. only those prams with small wheels will fit. those weird ones with 20' wheels won't cut the mustart unless you have roofracks or attach it to that weird phallic towbar thingo....

I'm "the big five-oh" and live in a little bayside town outside Geelong, Vic. I have a lovely wife, 3 terrific sons and 2 labradors. At one stage we also had a cat, 7 ducks and a goose roaming around, but foxes and natural attrition came into play....

I originally worked as a Maintenance Fitter, returning to school in the early 90's to complete Electronics Engineering. Worked in IT until redundancy reared its ugly head a few years ago. Pulled out the tools again and now make more money than ever before doing shutdowns both locally and interstate - only working about 8 months of the year - totally stress-free.

Bought the "8" new back in April this year (Black/LP/Sunroof). What a machine!!! Also have an 03 Astina SP20 (the wife's car) and a heavily modded 63 Mini. Oh and there's another old 60's Mini stripped down in the shed waiting for me rebuild it one of these years....

The "8" as a family car?? Not when the kids grow up I'm afraid dear reader! Luckily youngest son got his licence last week. Carting both him and the wife around was interesting. He's 6ft 3" but luckily his mum's only 5 foot - she had to sit up against the dash with him still jammed in behind her!!

Cheers,

Rod.

Hope you hide those keys to the 8.

If I was your son I would be mighty tempted to take that thing out for a spin.

Yeah you're right there mogley!! I have to trust em tho (the threat of death always helps........).

Anyway better get to it. Gotta pull the snout off the 8 today and install a Hymee Grille Kit. Already copped a stone in the oil cooler - annihilated some of the fins but missed the cores thank god!!

Cheers.

Welcome RX8ted.

Agreed bigger kids will not fit but mine are still little, so it works fine.

I see the modding bug has bitten. It's a slippery slope my friend.

Fair enough. Once you decide what you're racing, why not start a thread so we can come on the journey with you.

Thanks mate. Enjoy em while they're little. The bigger they get the bigger the problems (and the outgoing funds....).

Nope I'm gonna refrain from mods (famous last words) other than the dealer fitted ones I got originally and the Protector Grille I bunged on today. The grille was a necessary evil - don't wanna lose an oil cooler or air-con condenser. Hmmmmmmm!! But then again I could probably come up with a real good legit reason for some go-faster mods. Oops she-who-must-be-obeyed is behind me. Better stop these dastardly thoughts....................

Cheers,

Rod.

I'm the director of an IT company: http://www.easynet.net.au/

27 years old, married with one daughter and two small dogs.

I have a baby seat in the Rx8 and I have a pram that fits in the boot!! We keep the big all terrain pram in the wife's Prado and the little fold up 3 wheel tripod style pram is for the RX8.

Have fun,

deano.

PS. We should have an RX8 weekend in Brisbane coupled with an RX8 only track day - that'd be fun. Around christmas time is good for me.

53 and still have hair. Work as a senior project manager in service installation. Live in a Victorian house downtown and have 7 cats. Daughter 21 and married. The 8 is what I call my mid-wife crisis. Building a garage for it. Got a great looking GF (mid 40s and gets mistaken for 28-30 all the time) who loves the 8, is commitment phobic, and never gets angry (am I lucky or what?).

I am 22, work as comptuter tech doing everything. Owned a computer repair business a few years back, but nothing really special yet. Have 1 dog 14 years old, just cost me 1k to remove the bumps. Live at an appartment with a roommate in new mexico. Clan leader of a profitable clan in Soldier of Fortune 2. $120p/h fixing peoples computers on the side when I feel like it. (pays for gas). Thats it. Only seen 2 rx8's in town.. so everyone gets confused about the car when it drives by. Car says: G E N E R A T O R in chrome on the back.
