Clutch advice
After experiencing some 'notchy' gear changes lately in particular when coming down from gears 3 - 2, I found Takas review of the Ongura clutch. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...+Racing+Clutch
That option looked pretty expensive for a quick fix, so I checked out the RX8 Manual, http://www.myrotarycar.com/portal/fo...3le/index.html and learnt amongst other things, a disengagement stroke of 111.8 mm, etc. It was all too technical for me, and at my 50 K service asked for an inspection. I was told there's no such adjustment, and my clutch was fine.
Anyhow, I'm thinking this is the beginning of the end, and was wondering if anyone else is/has experienced any of these difficulties? The car has just done 50Ks on Friday, and it hasn't done a track day....yet.

I've got to admit Michael, I seem to notice it more when my wife is driving! (I won't say anymore on that!) Having said that, I've also experiened it a couple of times with clutch fully engaged.
I want to rule out all possible causes, and the gearbox oil change option sounds like the next logical step. Although its down on the 60K service books, I'll do it before hand....

You can ask Rotalation of how smooth is my gearbox still after all this adventures I had.
If gear oil change fails I suppose Trev... worth changing a few times before you decide.

When a clutch fails it either 1) slips when driving hard (revs go up but speed remains constant) or 2) more likely drags. The usual first sign of a dragging clutch is not being able to engage reverse or first gear. Difficulty selecting second / third gears are usually synchro related.
Try some new Redline MT-90 or other suitable SYNTHETIC GL4 75w90 gear oil in the gearbox - not GL5 oil which tends to shorten the synchro life by being too slippery.
When you drop your old oil check that there is no metal chunks attached to the magnetic drain bolt (rare). Leave the old oil overnight in a clean container. If there is gold /copper coloured particles in the old oil theres a good chance the synchros are worn.
This is only a general indication and you should find that the new oil will improve the feel of the gearbox anyway. It only holds 2 litres which is not a lot, thats why going synthetic is better.
