I wish I could try it on dyno but, In Hong Kong, those performance shops will not let you use it unless you purchase something expensive from them......CHEAP!

I forgot to mention something about the long induction part then I have done. No, I didi not do a could induction for it, however, I have used a plastic plate as an air defusor (don't know how to spell) to lead more air upwards and towards the long tube. I don't really like it because it blocks a little area to the radiator, so later on I will just move the pipe downwards and will drill through the left hand side of the front grill similar to the mod I did previously to the short intake.

Oh did I mention I am still using the original factory filter?

Boyboydan.

Try the mod I did to the airbox and see whether you notice a difference.

Oh of course I did right after I have read your acrticle. The intake sound is lounder no doubt about it, and I do feel the car run smoother (could be my imagination or because of the induction noise). I don't see and bad side about it because no power loose as far as feel concerns.

I also read about putting cone shape K&N into the original Box. I am not sure if I should do that or just get a standard K&N replacement. What do you think?

By the way, is it right that the RX-8 in Aus is 231 HP instead of 250?

I don't know, the choice is yours.... personally I'm swapping my airbox over to the HKS intake as soon as my order arrives.

The Aus spec has 238hp.

hum...May be I will try the replacement 1st...Please let me know how you think about the HKS system when you have installed. :D
Is quite a lot of power loose in Aus spec car isn't it? Must be the octane....

Not so much different octane. Different emmission standards here in Aus.

Well I think the PCM replacement (like Motec and FEED) may not work in Aus spec due to a diff BCM? (Hymee??)

Boyboydan... are you in Hong Kong? I am looking for a shop selling MazdaSpeed stuff in Hong Kong. Do you know one?

I have a fd's friend in GT sport that I can get MazdaSpeed Defi meter and HKS oil cooler but I want to get more MazdaSpeed stuff when I go there next Feb!
thx

You've never "lost" any power. Losing power is buying it with a certain amount and then your car got weaker as you owned it. There is no lost power in the Renesis. You still have precisely what it came with. Published numbers mean nothing. Performance does and it performs as advertised. No one believes what K&N claims about a 9 hp increase wth their intakes but no one ever complains to them wanting that 9 hp back because it must be lost. Get over the numbers.

No no no thats not what I meant!! What I am trying to say is, with everything standard, the Aus spec is 238hp where Hong Kong spec is 250. Now if the Aussie car plug in the Hong Kong's computer, will it goes back to 250 hp and thats what I am asking.

Taka! Yes I am now living in HK and I will find more infos about Mazdaspeed parts in HK. At this moment, only Auto Ex is popular in HK for RX-8 because, Mazdaspeed cost almost the same and it is less hard core then Auto Ex...(thats what they said). Anyhow, only 22 Rx-8 in HK and that means parts are not so popular... I wanna get lighten flywheels and clutch and I need to do special order! Anyway, as soon as I know anythinbg I will let you know. What excatly you wnna get with Mazdaspeed?

Great Thx mate.

Ultimately - not today though :o I spent too much already
For MazdaSpeed, I like eventually buy flywheel, and clutch, with brake and clutch line, short shifter, sport radiator, and the defi meters made by MazdaSpeed. - and more That is my plan so far. Oh of course the bodykit.
If they develop the caliper - I will get it over Autoexe.
If they have the adj suspension - that will be interesting coz my mind is set on the Tein Flex.

For Autoexe, I love the RAM intake, the under the car brace, and rotor and brake package.

I don't know about less hardcore - since there is only some product good in Autoexe - their suspension is not as great as Tein or FEED (HKS) F801 and not much of their products actually overlap with MazdaSpeed. So you can have MS/Autoexe together.

So did you notice what is missing in the MazdaSpeed?

Oil cooler

I decided to go for HKS oil cooler rather than the MazdaSpeed one since it is obvious in the Japan RX-8 party race it is a much popular choice and they gave good reviews. I aimed to keep oil temp in the 90C but in the BM video they can go over 100c in 35 deg heat

Anyone will try modify the headlight cleaning device to water spray for the oil cooler? I think this is the cheapest and effective way of doing it. I am planning to do it since headlight cleaning is prttey much useless in HK....Otherwise, I will go for Auto Exe oil cooler instead of HKS because they are just like Mugen-only do stuff for Mazda and that means in my opinion as least, more reliable.

Taka, did you receive my mail? I could meet you in HK. So just mail to my prvate e-mail and we will discuss details.

If there is Auto exe oil cooler of course..

Looking though their site www.autoexe.co.jp - they have a wall though of RX-8 goodies hanging in their Kandon display office but I don't see an oil cooler there!

In their lineup - they don't even make oil cooler for RX-7s... Am I missing something there?

It will be good if they do.
You can always go for MazdaSpeed. I am happy for AN oil cooler (period) .. any oil cooler will do just a good job. There is no magic of making an oil cooler so ... as long as it is reasonbly price - yeah why not

Need to check! May be I am confused too! Anyway, I might modify the headlight washer to spray direct to oil coolers. I think it should be effective and cost less and it's quite easy to modify.

No I am not

I am just a doctor that cut up dead bodies... and also do biopsy reports. i.e. a Pathologist

How do you modify the headlight washer... inverting them :p.

The oil cooler is air cool, so is there any benefit to wet them? I have no oil temp meter in my car but I don't expect the oil temp will go down on rainy days... I am fearing the opposite.

Also how do you control the spray, since it is connected to the windscreen wiper... ?

Also if you find the Autoexe oil cooler, please check if it is a replacement or an add on to the right side.

I will prefer add on for sure but have to make sure they have all the brackets for them.
