NZ Compression Test

Hello everyone, there's a 2005 RX8 I'm looking at purchasing, but there's a line in the description that concerns me. "Starts cold but is getting slower to start when hot, but give it a few minutes and is good to go again". Does anyone happen to be in the Wellington region that would be willing to do a compression test on this for me? Would be willing to pay for the trouble. Cheers

If there is no one around your area that can help you then check out the local dealer and ask if they can do this..... and how much. Its only going to cost you the equivalent to a set of spark plugs rather than an engine rebuild. Of course every rotary will need a rebuild eventually but you want to know if you are likely to get half a year to a few years to allow you to save your gold coins. Also the car should be cheap if it needs 10k min AUS dropped on it urgently. Slow hot start is either a stuffed starter motor or engine or both. If starter is not original then likely near dead engine with slow hot starts. You have been warned!

Good luck and hope you get a decent 8. If i needed to buy again i would look for lowish km car with a stuffed engine and build it right.
