Compulsory Ethanol percentage in fuel
Nationals Senator Ron Boswell says the Federal Government is not ruling out a mandated blend of ethanol in fuel.
The Canegrowers group has welcomed the Federal Government's extension of the excise-free period on ethanol to 2011, but says a percentage mandate is crucial for the biofuel industry's long-term future.
Senator Ron Boswell says the mandate has not been looked at yet.
"We've just had this big win - at the moment you never fight on too many fronts," he said.
"I know what they have asked for - they want some mandating.
"That hasn't been considered at the moment but the Government has its eye on the sugar industry and knows it needs some support. But all things will be considered."

Hmm, think I will defer to labrat for the definite answer, but as long as the % is low, say 5%, and the octane rating is retained, then it should be ok. Fossil fuels won't last forever and it is only through sustainable alternatives petrolheads will survive :D
But if I am wrong, tell me
