Talking covered 5000km

Finally hit the 5000km mark , so far no major hiccups , have developed squeaky drivers seats especially when cornering hard left or right .

Any thoughts on what i can do to rectify the squeak on the drivers seat , its leather , i have tried a light lubricant on seat rails , so far no real effect on squeak .

Is it like the leather is "creaking" or does it seem to be more of a mechanical sort on moise?

Could the seat back panel be rubbing against the dry leather?

I don't get my car back till Monday - so I can look and ponder in sympathy ... sorry!

Kev.

Hi Lock and Load

I had the same noise develop in my drivers seat. I spoke with my service manager and this is a problem that Mazda Australia is aware of and they have a service bulletin on it. I had them fix the problem when they added they oil baffle. I'm up to about 9500kms now and the seat is as quiet as when I first picked the car up. Hope this helps

Regards

Hi Lock and Load

The noise was a sort of creaking from the drivers seat when I cornered. When I mentioned this to the service manager he immeadiately recognised this as being a known fault and said that the repair required the removal of the seat and either a lubricant or a type of sealant added to the mounting points, sorry I cant really remember the details. However I'm sure your service manager will have seen the service bulletin from MA concerning this.

Hope all gets fixed soon
Regards
Patrick

Yep, I've got the squeek too, and when they changed the oilsump, they couldn't fix it but took it up with Mazda.

I've now passed the 10,000K mark (thanks to my Sydney-Adelaide run), so will be going in this week (hopefully) for the service and will see what they can do then.

> squeaky seats.. arghh..

Have just gone through this too - I freaked when I first heard it, and realised it way my **** moving in the seat that was causing the squeek - every corner made a noise.. I mentioned when I zipped in for the 1,000 checkup, and got a pretty non-commital "give it a little time to bed down.."

It's pretty much settled down and now I just get the little leather creaks when I first get it.

Speaking of breaking milestones ( pardon the pun ) - I think there's an unofficial competition running with the call centre staff in Melbourne who handle the post sales follow up calls for Mazda AU, as I got a call on day 3 after I picked up my 8, and got a handfull of when did you pick the car up, how has it run, what is the milage now, etc..

And the lady almost choked when I said I had clocked up 1,150 km in three days and I swear I heard a "bugger" in the back ground as if someone had just lost money on the outcome..

She giggled when I said that after picking the car up at around 5:30pm, I managed to make around six round trips from Mosman, North Ryde, to the Airport and back, then some zipping up to the Northern Beaches for good measure, and a whole world of loops within Mosman and North Sydney picking up a few pals to take them for a quick spin till aroudn 1am * grin * - talk about a kid with a new toy.

So the lady sounded pretty pleased to tell me that she was sure I had clocked up some sort of record in hauling in with needing my 1,000 check up in only three days after picking the little bugger up * grin * - I wonder if I should have asked for a share of the pool!

I wonder if anyone else has gotten that feeling from the call centre staff ?

Oh, has anyone else had any issues with the little rear seat windows "popping" open while either driving "quickly" or when you close the driver side door? My driver side read window pops open ( the click pops and I hear road noise which is how I first noticed it ) and I have to reach back and close it - and now I check the bloody thing every time I get out of the car as I'm worried it is open and would make breaking into the car that much easier!?

Sounds like a problem with your window... or it is not shut properly. I had to show my girlfriend how to shut them properly as she wasn't pushing hard enough to a "click stop" so they wouldn't pop open again...

Good on her though... she was trying not to break the new car.
