Speaking of young blokes in cars, I saw a guy lose his Falcon yesterday. He was behind me at the lights and we were both turning right onto a four lane road (two each way). He had pulled up very close to the rear of the 8 and I thought I'll put some distance between us when the light goes green. This turn is very off camber and I've had the tail of my XR8 loose there often in the wet, but never in the dry as it was yesterday.
I accelerate away at half throttle whilst keeping an eye on him in the mirror, I probably got to 5 grand in first ( I had just left home and the car was still cold). As I select second and pull away, I see him lose the rear and start to correct. For some stupid reason known only to him, he must have kept the boot in 'cos as it came back the thing turned 90 degrees to the road, mounted the gutter, and face planted into the armco. EF Falcons are taily, but mine has never gotten that out of shape in the dry :D . Expensive lesson to learn, RX-8's handle, 94 Falcon Gli's dont....

Nah - I'm pretty sure that is Mario Fenech.
Cheers,

The "HSV" (Holden Special Vehicles) in the picture is the sports/premium brand, sort of like MazdaSpeed I guess.

Screw gas mileage
Thanks...Monaro...I couldn't remember what it was called, the only thing that was coming to mind was mondeo, but that's a ford. I don't believe they let a 19 year old kid test that...they gave me a hard time when I wanted to test an Evo at the Mitsubishi dealership, and when I was 19 and my friends and I went to dealers to play with cars, they never let us try anything fun because they knew we weren't going to buy it.

From what I can gather from other forums it was actually a 23 year old, his car but insured in his mum's name. So basically he'll be paying the bill for the rest of his life.

Yeah... they have... the guy was actually 23, owned the car, but it was insured under his mum's name... apparently, an off duty copper had been following him because of erratic driving (up to 160km/h in urban area)... he just lost it and landed in the car yard, just a cooincidence... the best bit... the plates on the car are "YBY FPV" hahaha... why? well, maybe they don't tend to get as airborne as HSVs...
