Just some pics of my install for the defi link gauge controller.
I had it stuck under the steering column and was hitting my knees on it, and I also couldn't see the buttons. I didn't want to stick it in the passenger side foot well like the mazdaspeed instructions.

solution custom aluminium panel in the ash tray. still needs to be polished or given a 'brushed aluminium' finish

how did you secure the gauages, and what are they?

oil temp and water temp. they're mounted in the std cups that have bendable bases and held in place with the double-sided tape that come with them. I'm looking at gauge holders at the moment. probably a knight sport since I only have 2 gauges or the re-amamyia one since taka's looks good.

I didn't get a kit. I bought the gauges and controller separately. the gauges come with the appropriate sensor, mounting hardware and wiring. the controller comes with wiring. then you need to mount the sensors somehow. your looking at around $300 a gauge and $180 for a controller. these are an average price and deals and bargans can be found.

try eBay for the parts. the local distributor is helpful so buying from a local store has advantages.

Good place to put them, but I have the other stuff in there already. (*a fan controller - no one is actually knows that I have it)

I have put the controller on the left hand side - stuck on with double sided tape - it keeps coming off so I think I will get velco from Bunning today.

the passenger side foot well is probably sensible since it stops you playing with the buttons )

Believe me... even if it mounts in the passenger side door i will still play with it.

Jarl, I had the hottest temp recorded at the nats

Water temp = 105 degree
Oil temp = 110 degree.

It is a touch better with the fan controller, but mainly it is faster to go down and slower to reach the hot water temp with the fan in full blast. It will get to 105 eventually. Wakefield is about 23 degree that day.

where are your water and oil temp sensors located?

I have a water sensor adaptor at the top radiator hose - it is a complete replacement like the MazdaSpeed one. It is from R magic.

The oil temp I use the oil filter adaptor. I did not put in the oil pan fearing that future Mazda mechanics will twist and bust the wire of the sensor. The oil pressure goes there too not the spot that is specificially for it (which is just below the filter anyway).

your water temp is very low compared to mine. I can easily see 110deg water temp. I don't think the std fans kick in fast enough.

my cruise temp is about 86, traffic 96, spirited 100-110, and track 110+
the thermostat starts to open at 86 and 96 deg is where the thermostat is supposed to be fully open. I'd guess this is normal operating temperature.

Jarl, I have a 2nd oil cooler this could explain a lower water temp consequently....

I also know about the termostat so I set the fan controller accordingly. I realised that it does not prevent the high temp it is getting eventually. It just come a touch slower, but ... but it comes down very quickly.

When I was in Wakefield and had 6 laps; the water temp goes up to 105 as stated, when I drives slowly via the pit to my garage (ie. 1 minutes) - with the fan in full blast (both relay on) - the water temp goes back to 82 when I get to my spot. It works the wonder and no more open the bonnet nonsense, although I still open it to show off my 4 point strut
