Disabling Alarm

Hi,

I was doing the DIY ignition coil change yesterday and tried to disconnect the battery. My alarm was triggered and couldn't find a way to stop it unless I reconnect the battery again.
I have the Mazda alarm for the RX8. Does anyone know how to disable the alarm for maintainence work?

You can shove a rag into the siren and/or disconnect it physically and hide in a cupboard for 15mins until the backup battery runs down!

I'm pretty sure there are an override key that come with an after market alarm system which can shutdown the alarm for maintenance. This is public knowledge. The override for the mazda alarm is no different.

I know there is a way of doing it but not sure how. The mazda alarm does have a special key to disable the alarm.

The instruction provided by my mazda dealer to disable the alarm worked.

Just replaced the ignition coils and installed the OEM ipod adaptor. The coils made a big improvement to the performance and reduced the gear stick shakes and bad idling.

The Ipod adaptor was the hardest. There was a tug of war between the head unit and me. I eventually won but not without some scarring. The ipod adaptor is great.

Since some of you have expressed concern about security in publishing the instruction for disabling the alarm, I will not publish it. PM me for the instruction.
