I asked around for an install on this and it costs between 450-550 which is a bit pricey. Ive heard/read that if you change to a lightened flywheel, you lose a bit of torque?
Can anyone confirm this?

I think I paid $300 for my install but I had everything, bearings seals bolts etc.
the only loss of torque you will notice is when the clutch first engages. slightly more revs are required or it will bog down or stall. within weeks you will compensate for this and not notice it.
every where else you will feel more torque. I tended to release the clutch to early and quickly on fast take-offs with the std fly wheel and the engine would struggle to build revs. with a light weight flywheel this isn't such an issue giving the impression of more torque.

Just got back from installing the HD clutch and prolite flywheel. My wallet is lighter!
I stalled it when i first got it and I was a bit jumpy at a few of the lights but in time I will get used to it and it will settle down!

install cost me $500
but took the whole day!!!!
took the midpipe off
diff
tranny
attempted to take the flywheel off...but they didnt have the right size for the nut...went to supercheap to get a 54mm one.
By then it was lunchtime
once it was off the flywheel was stuck!! so they had to attack it with a blowtorch
once the flywheel was off the new counterweight went on and the prolite flywheel on top of that.
new clutch on top of that then the rest of the stuff back on.
then it was the mazdaspeed brakes and endless brake lines and bleeding the system and then the new AP clutch line...then more problems!
the clutch/brake fluid didnt want to get out of the bleeder and they tried all sorts of methods of getting it out! pumping the clutch, sucking it out with a tube and a mouth (old school!) and finally with a vaccum! took about an hour to do but finally got it there!
attempted to test drive the car and found that the friction point was about 1cm from release. more fiddling around...more bleeding
and volia!

OMG, public holiday!!! Yes, double demerits!!!
It's nice and sunny down here today ... nice day for a drive ... but I think I'll spend most of my time indoors

Had a good chance to test out the new flywheel.
Breaking traction seems to happen a lot easier with a lightened flywheel! Its a little bit harder to adjust to the new clutch, especially in the rain but I must say that it revs much faster in first second and third. My dad drove it and he stalled it straight away and said, hey youve done something to the clutch!
Finally fixed up my EDFC controller so the door shuts now away from prying eyes.
Overall, an expensive mod but well worth it. I'd suggest replacing your clutch while youre at it to make it worthwhile.
Just bought 6 litres of 10w30 redline oil. Time for an oil change!
