Driving tips...
Hi there,
could anyone provide me some driving tips for an rx8, to make the best of it ie- what revs should i keep it between to get the longest time amount of time from the seals.
Also idling the car, to let it cool off before turning it off a good idea or is taht just a useless carbon build up method.
And oils - is synthetic really bad for the car?
Thanks.

Premix a little 2 cycle oil with your petrol that helps the seals about 5 ounces to the tank full of gas.
Check the oil at every fill up and keep it topped up.
Drive it like you stole it.
In other words red line and WOT it once a day.
Carbon build up is a huge problem with rotaries a wide open throttle and red line helps keep the carbon down.
Warm up before you drive it and don't go above about 4 k until it gets heated up.
Other than than drive it like you want to, enjoy, it is a truly unique car and engine and a hell of a lot of fun.
Also if you get a chance to track it, do so, you will get a grin you can't wipe off for a month.
Come to the nationals this year. And an added beni is my car runs better than ever when after a day of going around a track. Seems to clear all the build up out.

Only time I did it was in a 1968 Holden with no shock absorber bushes.

You'll actually be surprised at how economical the RX8 can be on long trips. I recently drove to Dubbo and back (wollongong) on a single tank each way! And that was being quite generous on the throttle...
