engine cover

hi

i was washing my car yesterday. i was checking the oil and water level and noticed that i was missing one of the rubber gromits that hold in the plastic engine cover. it was the one on firewall.

i have to go in to the dealer to buy one today.

i noticed a bit of a rattling under the bonnet a few days ago.

cheers

mike

just a slight rattle from resonance at a high idle during cold start.

not there at normal idle.

i'll let the forum know how much the gromit costs.

Why should you pay for one?... If it fell out then it's a warranty issue. Sounds like it is not fit for purpose.

if it is expensive, then i'll kick up a stink about it being lost. but seriously, it's only a small grommit.

they couldn't find the part on their computer and will have to call mazda central office to find the part number. they said that they would call in the afternoon but no word yet.

i'll call them back tomorrow.

i called the dealer today. they said that you can't buy the individual grommets and can only buy the whole engine cover as a whole. it was around $300!!! but the parts manager said that it grommet should not have come off so it is a warranty replacement item. i've asked my spouse to bring the car in to have them look at the missing grommet and to order a new engine cover.

i'll post more once the issue is resolved.

cheers

Yeah, there seems to be a few problems in the parts database, which i guess is to be expected. My driver's side visor broke, and the one they ordered was definately not right... but, as it was, they found the right one, ordered it, and gave me one off a new arrival that was sitting out back. So no biggy for me.. :-)
