Here is the one & only RX-7SP-II that my mate will bring along. Am sure the KS guys can tune a 16-bit Power-FC to the max for him............

Just wondering about the upcoming Knightsport ecu dyno day. I will most likely be attending but as I am based in Albury, I have to plan well in advance.
Anyway, what fuel octane are those attending KS ecu tune session looking at tuning with?
My concern with running 98 octane for the tune session is that the dyno may not expose the possibility of getting some detonation as the weather warms up later on ( seeing that the KS tune will occur in cold melbourne weather) and if so , we really dont have anywhere to go other than adding octane booster regularly during the hot summer months and during tracking.
Therefore personally, if I attend , I will be using my normal 95 octane shell brew, knowing that if any detonation issues arrise as temperatures soar in summer, I can counter this by running 98 octane shell V power.
Any thoughts?

Also, for those who will attend the KS tune day, who will be running the latest Mazda recall flash that has only very recently been released and who will be running the previous flash( which I currently am running)?

Regards
Rexi

I am guessing I will be running the most recent one as my car is due for service before then.

I will be running BP Ultimate with the knowledge that I will be running VPower Racing when I track.

I cant imagine that the tune they do will be that tight on timing and at the same time they are increasing cooling by dropping fan cut in.

I have told them that the octane rating of our premium unleaded is 98, the same as Singapore, So they will map the car for 98 octane fuel in all conditions hot/cold etc.
They also do a comptetion map, i havent asked how different that is to the basic.

For those who want a tune done, I will e-mail an order form for which you can fill out and bring with you to the dyno. It makes life alot easier when we have multiple cars to do..
So please email me people and i will send out... info@revs-online.com

I think I will run V Power coz it is easily assessible in my area, and I will use that for tracking. V Power racing easily not available and I will not use that.

I believe that a good tuner will count variations and be gentle on denotation. If you believe in tuning to the max, you should have a tune for Sandown, a tune for Winton and one for street!

Choosing a fuel that you are not going to use is not the necessary solution I believe, it is like tuning to the wrong fuel.

What I will do is to change all spark plugs and change the current filter *(MazdaSpeed panel filter) only. I want to change the whole intake but it is not in my current plan, and even the HKS major BS article only claim there is 20-30% increase in flow from stock (so... go figure). I will keep my current intake setting for now.

I will also keep my Mazda flash since I don't see the point of upgrading since there is not issue on start up and running in day to day basis.

Fdracer, thanks for that information. Shell V power 98 it will be then as it is also pretty commonly found in Albury/Wodonga.
I will still have to confirm my participation but hope to be able to do this in the next week or so.

Just an update on the tuning, the dates will be Wed the 8th of August and Thursday the 9th
Will be held in the Springvale area. I will Email all Participants the Adress. (Don`t want to put it on Forum so we don`t have half of Melb showing up etc..)
I Dont mind a Few RX8 club members from the Melb area, but please don`t bring 10 of your mates etc, so there`s 100+ people there, very hecktic obviously..
I believe Most people on this forum are mature enough to understand..

Yes you are right, It is an import, used for race/ rally and Business demonstrations.
And the Jap plate is for show!!!
I didnt want to go buy a $40,000 car to rip apart and play with, plus I noramlly always prefer a JDM over an Aussie car... (my cars get used for track/racing purposes)

Have been getting alot of feedback too which is great..

How much of a 4WD does the RX8 look on the circuit on the DVD hahahaha

BTW fired up the supercharger tonite, must say it is quieter than i imagined,
more air noise than anything, supercharger noise isnt there at idle!!!!
