Steady on xxup, that's my short shifter installation expert you're talking to! He's allowed to take a few liberties. :D :D

oh great, now those ppl will think that we are a bunch of snobs....

had an outing with them not too long ago, they were a bunch of nice guys
why was a thread posted over there to start with? they dont have a large number of rx8 members, if so, they are a member here anyway....

Number 1 question for Nats attendees:

Are you taking your spare tyre??

No....drove the family around for seven days on an interstate holiday in the 8 last month without one either. Keeping the tyre pressures up and the tread depth legal will save you from most punctures.

We certainly don't want to offend anyone but the original idea was a meeting of RX8 owners (and their S/O's, families, etc). If we just had open slather the meeting would be diluted.

Plus there are legitimate safety and security concerns if we just opened it to the public. None of the organisers want anyone there who hasn't paid up and signed their rights away via the waiver. We also wish to avoid anything 'going missing' given that there will be some expensive kit lying around.

And I'm sure the guys on that forum are a great bunch. I think Taka began his thread just to get the word in the streets when we were initially looking for numbers.

Hope you understand.

Since I'm not pushed for luggage space (flying solo) I'm leaving it on for the trip down and back. It is simple enough to remove at the track and this way I do not need to worry about getting a puncture and being stuck somewhere for a while.

However, as Gomez says, provided your tyres are in good condition, punctures are rare these days so I don't think there is any 'right' answer to your query.

Do whatever you think fit.

Sorry guys, but you have never been victims of xxup's law which states:

- Take an umbrella and it will not rain - forget one and it pours
- Wash the car and it will rain - regardless of the BOM forecast
- Forget the spare and you will have a flat..

And many more...

So xxup and co are taking a full sided wheel properly mounted in the boot... Been under test for a week over the best speed bumps that Ascot can offer... :D Now I know that I won't have a flat!!!

We anticipate a lot of people will still turn up. If we are so unconcern with safety issues.

1) We will **** the sponsers off and no demo car will be likely be with us next year.

2) Other people in the track will be at risk of theft, vandalist, etc....

I don't mind Jabba being there. In fact, I love Jabba. But just that it is a public forum and any thug can read it Eric. Just remember that

I ain't putting all my equipment for people to steal while we are out on the track. In fact, all the up class track day I went to employ this kind of security measures. Try to explain to my fellow trackie that any Joe Blow can walk into Sandown and touch his Ferrari. :o Hope you understand too Eric.

I don't know where this 'Wakefield will be locked up' stuff came from .It's a public facility open all day.We have hired the Track-not the whole bleeding property.
Anyone wanting to come along and look are welcome. The whole 'security' thing is way over the top.I have been to enough Wakefields to know what happens, unlike other people who are posting and have never even been there.
Maybe there are RX8 people out there who don't want to enter for whatever reason, but would come along for a look.
Cheers
Len

"Look" is a lot of level my friend... I agree we cannot lock Wakefield, but at least no pit lane entry for other people.... :o PLEASE....
I thought we agree and have consensus from all this on the series of emails from Timbo and co....

I better take some more security measures and lock up my spare wheels, and putting all my spare stuff from the car and get someone to keep an eye on them, if you allows any thugs on the pit lanes. Bunnings sells some loud alarms stuff for $20 and I am getting another set just in case.

People reads this from all around the world Len; and I am not prepare to trust all people with my hard earn $$$$ lying on the pit lane.

I have all my highest respect respect from you being on Wakefield so many times. I just don't want to leave stuff anywhere in AUSTRALIA where I don't feel safe. Talking about sensitive, we have car bombing in this world this days... I am sorry you just cannot blame me being more careful.

Not to mention if we hired the track, someone that we did not invited slips on the ground and damage him/herself and they sue us? We take responsibility???????

Taka, remember you've got a room there you should be able to lock stuff up in, if you're that worried.

Thanks Tim. ... that was my plan until do says it. You now have busted my decoy.

Now they are going to bust into my room. You know the stuff you store in the room is not covered by insurance???

I think I should store all valuable in my boot while tracking :o That is the idea?!!!!

Im sure people will be around and i dont not believe any1 will come to steal tyres and car parts. 43 rx8s will be there? so im assuming at least 1 person will be around every1s stuff- spectators?
even I cannot remeber 40 faces first time I see them! How do you know they are the owners of the stuff they are touching!!!!

Stop being naive Kal!

BTW: even my bicycle wheel got stolen in the race meet! ....

I now admit it.

I am not a PARANOID!

I was a thug once in my life and it is bloody easy to steal your stuff.

Bottom line: be careful Hymee I can even steal your S/C!

BTW: I will check with Timbo regarding lock up. since he questioned whether we need to hire a security and the result is to lock the gate.

Oh man, I am so sick and tired of every aspect of this damn bloody meet being argued and bitched over.

I'm almost at the stage where I couldn't be bothered going.

Look, although security is an issue for some people, there were also other reasons why the organisers did not wish to invite the general public (not least being their own miserable hides were Joe Public to be run over by an entrant, etc).

Those that disagree with this decision can go jump for all I care. I'm so over it.

hi Guys,

me and my fiance might come up for a drive is there a fee for spectators? i wont be racing (as far as i know)

What day is the best to come sat or sund?

P.S we should have name tags with our forum nick's on it.

that way its easy for every1 to recognise eachother

(just a thought)

Adrian

On a lighter note our Nats preparations are proceeding - car bar just installed...

I would love to show a picture, I am getting an "attachment only partly uploaded message"... Sigh...

taka, take a chill pill mate, no need to call everyone/anyone a thug.
this is never a safe/secure world, we do take chances all the time/everyday, sad but true.
i agree that the pit lane should at least be patrolled and blocked off for paid members/authorised members only. i think a last minute sercruity re-structuring is a good idea.
im sure the initial idea of this track day is to gather the rotary/mazda community and have a blast, so dont stress too much and have a great weekend as long as everyone look out for everyone. :D

fair enough if that was put forward at the very begining.
like MACCA mentioned, alot of track days are open to public, unless it is an exclusive ones which the "conditions of enter" were stated at the very begining, therefore no such "thugs" would enter the prmesis...
here is another mis-understood post i found last night (check out the last few posts)...
